What edition is that one Richard?
Thanks
Streamed this first after it was recommended by @anon70766008 - loved it so bought a copy.
I cannot abide Bitches Brew despite attempting to like it over the years. But this is outstanding.
DSOTM live recording 1974 Wembley.
Oh my goodness- this is fantastic- production and mastering unbelievably good - especially considering a “live” album.
And only £20. Bargain- disc and 2 posters- gatefold sleeve etc.
It’s lovely - very gentle, unlike any other record that he made.
If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the valve amps in the studio humming. I couldn’t work out what hell the ‘ambient noise’ was, then I twigged.
I’m glad that you like the record, Endon.
Ok- will listen out for that - of course will have to upgrade my system now if I cannot pick the humming out! Great recommendation
Even better at £16.01 ![]()
It’s the recent reissue cut by Chris Bellman.
Thanks for this. I see I can get it for about half price, on a little silver disc… ![]()
That will do me…!!
I’m totally with you on that In a Silent Way is excellent a masterpiece of its kind but Bitches Brew completely passed me by and after numerous attempts still leaves me cold.
Absolutely wonderful album - must put it on today !
Thanks Richard, will look out for it ![]()
‘Up in Smoke’ - Ese & The Vooduu People
Been enjoying this all analogue LP on a rainy day. Sounding superb.
I wish there was some of her material available on Qobuz🫤
@QuickSticks – Our distro doesn’t have a deal with Qobuz yet. I have contacted the Qobuz Helpdesk numerous times asking how I can get our company’s music on that platform but they appear to be very unresponsive. My distro says that QB’s communication and customer services is not great!
Meantime, you could always head over to Bandcamp and buy some vinyl or CDs (you get free hi-res downloads too if you do). ![]()
I bought that Ese album on a coloured LP, and another Ese album, neither of which I have played yet. I can’t bring myself to take Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s ‘A Star Is Born’ off the LP12 - truly staggeringly wonderful singing and recording, as I have posted elsewhere on this Forum.
I saw Elvis Costello and The Attractions at so many small London venues as he was getting himself established, often on the same bill as fellow Stiff Records bandmate Nick Lowe.
Lots of train journeys from Oxford to London when I was at University. Very happy memories!
Is that a Stiff Records sampler? (I think that I recognise Messrs Costello, Lowe and Dury, looking very louche.)
Am I right in remembering that Costello and Lowe both used to sing an Elvis Costello song called 'What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love And Understanding’? I think that I was given a promo single in a picture sleeve at one of the concerts way back then. I have never been able to play it, but that may change, as I have an LP12 45RPM adapter on order.
