The fear of damaging the bearing with the 45rpm adaptor is one reason I originally upgraded to a Lingo. Now, despite having Radikal II, I scarcely ever play anything which requires 45rpm!
I bought the 3LP version.
So wish I’d bought the box set now.
Cesar Mariano. Very nice.
Yes, I used to be concerned about damaging the motor. Not so much putting the pulley on which was ok if pushing it on slowly applying sufficient pressure until it slid onto place. Pulling it off, I used to insert a finger onto the top of the motor pulley and gently apply a little downward pressure whilst pulling the pulley up and off.
Hi Krautnamie, best to check Bandcamp Mr Bongo or go the their website and sign up for emails.
At a glance on the link you posted I have the Dee Dee Bridgewater Afro Blue which I would recommend as I know you like Jazz.
If you like Reggae Protoje is very good. I’m a Reggae fan so not on your link but Holly Cook & Prince Fatty albums are good.
The Incredible Bongo Band
I dont think you can really go wrong with Mr Bongo, fairly eclectic but with a strong focus on Brazillian music. The vinyl records that I have bought have always been trouble free, the sources for their re issues can be variable but usually acceptable.
You can have a listen on Bandcamp, maybe get one of their Mr Bongo Record Club compilations/samplers and see what suits your taste.
They sell music from other labels as well as their own from the shop/website
Thank you very much @anon44538201 for your great recommendations

I will stream that and check it out ![]()
Cheers

Hope that one doesnt need a shave ![]()
I’m sure you will like Dee Dee Bridgewater
I am actually streaming the Protoje album and I like this one, very cool vibes, sounds fresh and Reggae is completely underrepresentated in my Vinyl collection
time to change it ![]()
In that case do try Prince Fatty and/or Hollie Cook
Another Discogs purchase for the princely sum of £4.99
Quite quite and very few snicks and crackle….very happy with the purchase. Not sure which version this is and probably not the original pressing but a reissue….however the A
SQ is not bad at all…..
Been streaming this for a while, so decided to buy it.
Santrofi, Alewa.
From the booklet:
This young all-star band from Ghana brims with gifted musicians and energy. The collective is made up of a new generation of awarded musicians who have backed anyone in Ghana from Azonto sensation Sarkodie to Nigerian superstar 2 Face Idibia. But their passion isn’t local pop but Highlife. And their mission is to bring it back; not only to the world but also to Ghana, where the young generation has forgotten all about this great music.
And very good it is too!
John Helliwell said that the piano was lugged into position to take that shot, but contained no “innards”. The score on the rest is the Star Spangled Banner’ - a reference to “Fool’s Overture”.
Looks very interesting will try and stream
It later.
Chet Baker Trio - Live From Moonlight, Philology, (1985)
Beautiful record Chet’s playing along with Michel Grailler’s piano playing which at times is sublime.
Finally a clean copy of this Chris Bellman cut. The vinyl was so bad on the deluxe sets I tried that in the end I passed completely and went for the refund. I’m pleased to say that this regular release is much, much better. I have a few early U.K. issues of this one in various states of play (and overplay!) so it will be interesting to compare. Good depth here, although do I detect some tape deterioration? Overall though, such a wonderful album that immediately transports me back to my school days and holidays Stateside. Very pleased with this!
