Ive been holding out buying one as i havent decided if i want to sell a body part for the 45 version.
I actually enjoy streaming this and ‘eye in the sky’ on qobuz so i’m in no rush.

My copy arrived on Wednesday and has gone back.
I found the bass to be overblown and was overjoyed when half way through side one the pops and clicks started up, giving me a valid reason to send it back.
Very disappointed as I’ve been trying to source a copy of this for years.

I played by DSD download of I Robot yesterday and really, it’s darn good, so I’ve decided to stick with that. You can buy it from the Qobuz download store and I think you could play it through your ND5 XS2 to nDac set-up? Worth a try maybe.
I then saw a nice used copy of the Tales Of Mystery And Imagination (Gold, Ultradisc II) CD, so I diverted the budget into that. Reviews are that is the “gold standard” digital version.
Ooo i’ll look out for it and give it a go.

“This is one of the most important albums that I have ever heard. It is definitely one of the best ever made on Blue Note and I don’t mean the new Blue Note.

Duke Pearson, Donald Byrd and Joe Henderson together with at the time Mary Lou William’s rhythm section Bob Cranshaw and Mickey Roker playing an excellent set of apart from Donald Byrd’s Fly Little Bird Fly all written by Duke Pearson.
A1, top drawer Blue Note reissued perfectly by the Classic Series team.

Ok this is my first take on it , the bass is actually less forward and dynamic than my original ,so I don’t understand the overblown. It’s less dynamic overall and the surface noise is way higher than my original ,how can this all be .Also I have a pre echo on the songs ie I hear in the silences what’s coming up before it actually plays . Very clear on the speech parts .I hear about 3 or 4 words before before it’s actually full volume..

Bobby Hutcherson - four seasons (album released in 1985)
Have this presently waiting on Amazon pre-order due to be despatched sometime next week.
However just realised this is not a Blue Note Series, it’s pressed by Music On Vinyl.
So now thinking about cancelling.
Looks every bit a fabulous album, very tempting, but my experiences with MOV is splendid looking vinyl pressings but sound anything from sort of okay acceptable to politely soulless.
MOV do sometimes remaster from the original analogue tapes, and also red-book digital but they don’t state how each individual albums are done, not that i can see anywhere.
So should i wait for delivery, or cancel?

I’ve got an original Timeless of that one somewhere and from recollection, it is quite nice. I’d hang on and give it a spin to see what you think.
