I worked for two weeks in 1973 picking fruit to earn the £35 I needed to buy a record player from Boots. This, followed shortly after by the red one. I still play both.
Mines a cliché The Beatles Sgt Peppers, bought at Woolworths at Crows Nest.
Saved up my paper round money to buy this whilst still at school.
Still going strong after 57 years. Probably lasted better than me.
On cassette, 1982/83, probably paid for by mum:
Also on cassette, 1985, bought with own money:
First album on vinyl, 1987:
First album on CD, 1990 (8 months before buying my first CDP - had to get a friend to tape it for me so I could listen to it in the meantime):

Hi @Alle71 ,
No I never saw Free, but they were a brilliant band. This thread is great, I can’t believe how many of these albums/ cds I bought! It is bringing back happy memories for me
Not my very first purchase (see above) but one of my earlier purchases, The Edgar Broughton Band - Wasa Wasa. I saw them a few time live, great atmosphere at their concerts
I didn’t.
