Which whisky are you drinking and why someone else might enjoy it?

Nice!
And it’s a funny thing with Lagavulin. Many people say it’s too peaty, and it is quite peaty. But for those who aren’t really big peat fans; they just stop too soon.
The first glass … wow that’s peaty. Second glass … still peaty, but hey that’s smooth. When you get to the third glass, it’s the best thing they’ve ever tasted.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned on here yet, but I’ve always really liked the Macallan 12 yo double cask.
My buddy from Manchester and I have consumed gallons of the Glenfiddich Classic 12 year. It’s one of the least expensive, but usually our ‘go to’ favourite. On the light side, but very easy drinking.
Though, we sipped our way thru a whole bottle of the 15 year Solera Reserve one longer evening.

Just bought at a ridiculous price from Amazon - probably cheaper than if spotted at a Duty Free shop

If you like Blue Spot, I highly recommend Yellow Spot and Red Spot. Both excellent.

Try Balvenie Double wood. Perhaps even more smooth, like mother milk

I am sipping a Talisker 10yr now, whilst listening to Vivaldi. Love the peppery smoky taste of it. Although I always forget to rank it among my favourites, I do enjoy it immensely when our paths cross. Usually in some hotel bar but now amazon surprised me on Black Friday

I’m enjoying an Arran 18yr old malt, watching rerun of Question Time, the malt is fine the debate is dire.

Talisker is a fine dram, a lot of the island malts have come to the fore in recent times, no more than Islay, some really good distilleries.

The Arran 14 year old was one of my favourite malts, so it was a huge disappointment when they decided to discontinue it.

My last bottle is sitting unopened and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to resist opening it … sigh.

It was a great malt, I was in the Lochranza distillery shop this summer didn’t see it there a lot of others to compensate
Go on crack it open it’s been a crap year.

Similar story here, I always gave my dad a bottle of Glenlivet 12 yr which is very smooth, almost like a cognac. Age was quite common then, and inexpensive tax free. Nowadays it is all a lot younger and hence not as smooth. I dont think he drunk it much, stuck to his beer, but I appreciated it when I visited

I just bought thus as my annual whisky treat. Fancied something different.

Glen Moray finished in a Rhum Agricole cask. Which I think is posh rum.

Tiny nip last night, not too sweet but warm and slightly spicy. Definitely one for winter. Nice. I don’t like the smoky/peaty whiskies so much so thus will do fine for me. Bottles last a year or more here, which is a bit pathetic really.

Ps in ten years or so I hope to be buying Yorkshire Dales Whisky. A good friend of mine just got planning permission to build a distillery nearby. Watch this space.

In the meantime, Bruce, there’s always Spirit of Yorkshire distillery over in Hunmanby.
