Wish list for new naim products in 2022 and beyond

It’s getting there … but requires the new NAM500 monos, built into 500 boxes, each with a mono PSU. Now you’re talking.

There was much discussion in the forum about network technologies. What about updating the streamers with WLAN 6+ and WMM (Wireless Multimedia Extensions - 802.11e) technology? That would probably bring a SQ improvement, as @Simon-in-Suffolk once explained. Many also use specialised Ethernet switches to process the data and use appropriate Ethernet cables. Wouldn’t it be possible to integrate this technology directly into updated streamers (sorry, I’m not a technician, but we could get out of the Ethernet rabbit hole…)? And yes, as mentioned by others above, interchangeable streamer modules would probably be useful to quickly keep up with new technologies

Horror. Even the inventor of the cassette tape didn’t understand the renewed interest (except for nostalgia) when compared to the quality of a CD- which development I think he also contributed to. Nicest part of that documentary is when the American tape loving maker is trying to get a sentimental statement out of Lou Ottens… and isn’t getting any. LOL.

I’m struggling to understand how this could possibly help in any way. Running multiple cables to switch ports makes it easy to set up any network, but why would anyone want to incorporate that function into an audio streamer?

Naim is.

I would also like to see a replacement for 272, what heavy hints are you referring to?

I’m with you I’d trade my 252, NDX2 and Supercap in tomorrow as well. One box that’ll replace 3 with a decent volume pot and headphone amp. What’s not to like.

The old 272 had a mediocre headphone amp and was absolutely miles worse than your NDX2/252. A replacement might close the gap a little, but lets be realistic, it’s unlikely to be anything but a significant downgrade.

Well without hearing it or knowing anything about a replacement guess thats pretty hard to say. I do agree the headphone amp was it’s worse feature but there’s a lot of us willing to give a little up for less boxes and a simpler setup.

As a pre amp the old 272 was surprisingly good at what it’s was meant to do, especially after adding a PS.

There is an extensive topic on the 272 and a wish for a replacement. Also Naim has mentioned several times that they are still very fond of the streamer/ preamp configuration.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to simplify my setup and moved to a Uniti Nova

Plenty - wouldn’t sound as good

Again if you haven’t heard it you can’t really say it all just speculation.

Yeah I know Pete

Are you not entirely happy with the NDX2 or just the number of boxes ?

Are we at a new low, discussing the sound of something that Naim are not making?

I’m certainly not unhappy with the SQ, I’m not happy with the number of boxes, cables and space it takes. Also there are issues with the volume on the 252 (probably with all the pre amps tbh), if I hadn’t had the 272 I might not of noticed but unfortunately I did.

Yes I know, and I only just packed them up for storage too that’s when you realise just how much space they take. You also notice how many cables and other stuff it takes.

You think you’ve got problems

Last count I’ve got 3 turntables, 4 sets of speakers and I think 17 naim boxes

Can you imagine what space that takes up
And for the record I live in 2 small abodes these days !!

A consolidation is well and truly on my mind let
me tell you

Spread over 2 house you capitalist I had 11 in one house. Plus 2 sets of speakers. And I’ve just ordered a Core and 2 Muso QBs from Harry today.
