Actually done to a former boss who was complaining about my ADHD traits:
I had piles of programme listings on my desk for quick reference; he insisted on keeping a clean desk…
Boss:
“A cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind.”
A the time I was distracted by a tough problem in the code, so without thinking I replied:
“So an empty desk is a sign of an empty mind?”
It didn’t go down well, but they need me more than I needed that job!
