Your Hi-Fi plans for 2025

Notwithstanding a curiosity with regard to the benefits or otherwise of a specific hifi server, as opposed to the NAS, any possible improvements are now frankly lottery winning numbers. The Vertere SG TT looks, and I understand sounds, amazing but is well and truly out of range.

What about you guys?

I’m done Lindsay, the main system and Mrs Q’s system will need nothing next year, or for the foreseeable future.
I won’t deny that I’d like a 552, but as you say, I can’t SEE that in my future at the moment.
I will be doing my best to bring our Keilidh’s back to life following their unfortunate contact with my grandson, but that should be a relatively inexpensive exercise.
If we make the changes to the front bedroom, creating a dressing room for Mrs Q and a small workout space for me, there maybe an Atom on the cards to bring the Keilidh’s back into use for that space.
I’m looking forward to a relatively inexpensive 2025 as far as HiFi is concerned, Records & CD’s are a whole different issue though… :joy:

DBL would be fun.

300B valve amp on its way imminently and, all being well, lots of music listening.

I am getting a Boulder 1108 phono-stage to replace my Superline/SCDR. This is planned for January.

Clearaudio sells a kit to field upgrade their Innovation turntable to a Master Innovation. I am starting to give some thought to making this change. If I do I will also have to get new feet for my HRS R3X isolation base. However, I may upgrade that to a S3 isolation base for the TT and use the current R3X for the Boulder phono-stage.

I’ve got a bit of money saved for 2025 upgrades.

Now I’ve moved house to a bigger lounge, my streamer sounds better, but the turntable worse?

Upgrade one is probably a decent REL to help fill the lounge.

Upgrade two will be a better turntable, in the £3-5k range.

If I add the money from upgrade one and two instead, plus a bit more, I could save for a second hand 552 instead. I think that will be for 2026-27 though (I think)

I quite fancy the idea of a Qb2 to replace the last remaining original Qb. Other than that, absolutely nothing.

Phase 1 : survival… everything after that is a bonus.

No immediate need to update anything on the system.

However, if funds permit I might examine the possibilities of adding a dedicated MC phono stage and head for a LOMC cartridge but it is not urgent as I am enjoying what I have at the moment.

2024 was a big year for hi fi (having had pretty much the same set up for 10 years and 4 house moves….) settled in new house so got round to the hi fi. Went from a Rega P6 and a Devialet 250 to a Vertere DG1S/Phono1 with Naim (Atom HE) 332/300/250. Speakers stayed. Atohm GT1. Vertere Redline full loom. Very very happy with the set up. Might investigate a move from the 540ML cartridge to a Vertere Dark Sabre……Vertere and Naim are a fabulous combination.

My hifi dealer is trying to push me in this direction, he rates both the Sabre and Dark Sabre very highly and as I don’t have a MC phono stage he reckons it would work very nicely with the built in phono stage in the 222.

You have a Vertere TT so it should be a perfect partner.

I have the Vertere phono 1 stage. I disliked the 222 phono immediately having come from the excellent phono input on the Devialet 250. It was an instant… no, that’s just dull, lacking in soundstage and pace. So I’d probably change that before the cartridge.

Thanks, it is something that is under consideration, just have to work the finances out.

To upgrade my system with more or different boxes would cost a lot more than I am currently willing or able to afford. So any upgrades are likely to be limited to cables but I might stick with what I have as I am enjoying my music with the system as it is.

Cables are on the horizon. I’m going for a few Neotech Amazon power cables and maybe the same for interconnects but need to try first. I’ve tried the Amazon power cable and it’s very good.

Another thing that might be replaced is the NDS but I really doubt it. It’s oh so very good when fed by a modified Lindemann Bridge II.

New Amp & DAC/Streamer in 2023

Speakers in 2024

Room treatment may be all I invest in audio for 2025.

It’s a new Cartridge for me. I’m booked into Cymbiosis in February to have the ATVM95SH fitted in my Ittok. I will have a choice of using my existing Rega Aria or the internal MM cards in my 72 pre amp. Looks like a shoot out between them to determine best sound. Other than that no other plans to do anything to the system. Will be going regularly to my local record shop Truck Music in Witney for new and used records.

I have no hifi plans for. 2025 (or beyond) - which is no different from the position this time every year gar one (last year) for the past nine years …yet my system has changed completely in that time!
I really think that as long as nothing fails nothing will change, unless I have a big lottery win, when I may be moved to doing some auditioning.

Hey……you never know there might be a good ex demo deal, some day……you deserve it👍

After my return to the Uniti Nova, no changes for me anymore … only a Rega Aria phono stage coming in just before Christmas.
