I’ve owned Magico A3s which I paired with Supernait 3, then 252/300, then 552/500. When we moved house and the new home for the hifi is much bigger, I bought Magico S5Mkii. My wife and I auditioned (in the store) a number of brands and always came back to Magico.

(Coincidentally, we just havent been listening to much music at all for a few months. Yesterday afternoon I put on the Doors first album (HD Tracks hi res version from my home Roon server to my ND555) while we were doing some cooking. My wife just out of the blue said, ā€œThese really are good speakers.ā€ Maybe the Magico sound isn’t for everyone (there is NO boominess to the bass), but over the years we’ve always appreciated their house sound.)

Magicos are characterized by being a bit power-hungry. They do best with some decent current pushing them. Definitely not a problem in my system and the 300DR drove the A3s very well as well.

I have used an Aria with my Nova since I bought it in 2019.

It was recommended by my dealer who said that he felt, for value/sound, it was an unbeatable phono stage unless you were willing to spend two or three times more to obtain a noticeable improvement.

I’ve not heard them all, but have since heard several others at a higher price point & agree with my dealers opinion.

I think you will enjoy your Christmas!

Nothing actually planned. When my cartridge needs replacing then possibly some tweaks to my LP12. Karousel possibly.
If cartridge stays good then nothing until 2026.

Haven’t got any thoughts for any new gear.
Certainly my main components won’t change.
Hopefully get a few free upgrades on the digital sideas that looks like it’s on its way.
But i can see next year being a bit tight, so probably glad i don’t want for anything.

If i do spend it will be on just buying music. Probably more expensive reel 2 reel master tapes.

Well won’t ever replace my vivaldi gear, as i couldn’t afford too or see much point.
Other stuff i have isn’t really in the same league but it works well together.

My plans for 2025 … continue to get some exercise, drink some decent wine and listen to great music.

Hopefully nothing more in my system breaks and I have to replace it.

Very happy with my setup as it is, however, my main PC is running Roon rock. I am unsure if I should get a Roon Nucleus One, or an Apple Mac mini M4 running the Roon Rock. It is not possible to audition these. Probably go for the former, and put a large SSD in it for storage of my ripped CD’s. Anyone got any thoughts or recommendations?

Question: upgrade or sell LP12?
Why: It does not sound as good as streaming. Something to ponder for the rest of this year.

While I have upgraded my speakers and amp within the last couple of years and am really happy with the sound of my system I have neglected any upgrades to my LP12.
So when funds allow hopefully in early spring I will be making a trip to the LP12 wizard in Rearsby for a Lingo 4 and a new Karousel bearing.

Depends on the frequencies of usage .

As a whole, I’m pretty much happy with my setup. I guess I’ll probably have to replace my Rega P8 cart this year… and I’d like to pickup a Takatsuki 274b rectifier tube.

I’ve also been thinking about adding a pair of ZMF Caldera headphones to the collection but I’ve been thinking about that for over a year so that may or may not happen. Nothing else planned other than to sit back and enjoy what I have.

Oh, I guess buy more vinyl and high res downloads… with the occasional bottle of Single Malt :grinning:
