Your Watch & Naim

Ha ha… I can’t tell from this pic as I can’t see the label. They have 3 other products that look virtually identical but are not the same. These are Renovateur, Nappa cream and Cream 1925. All excellent but not for this purpose.

You need this one:

The key point is that this one is Neatsfoot oil based and does not contain any waxes or grease. You don’t want that on a watch strap (or a belt etc.) This also doesn’t darken the colour.

I use their reptan on alligator straps. For regular leather I always use Rapide.

You can use many different things. Some work, some don’t or less good. I picked this up from a watch magazine a few years ago and I haven’t found anything better yet.

Bingo. £15 a pot on eBay

Where did you buy the strap and how much would something like that cost.

Looking for a strap for my Tudor Black Bay 58 - I bought it with the leather strap (possibly a mistake but I only need one watch and it should out live me) - the Tudor leather strap clasp is a bit agricultural.

Look at Bulang but I’d rather see the strap before splashing out on £100.

Toshi straps… all hand made and multitude of leathers. Approx 4mm thick and most of his are £100 - £130 . Different sizes and stitching colours to chose. They are wonderful things.

Many thanks I’ll have a gander.

I think you can. But only towards a darker tone obviously. Besides colourless they also have black and two browns. The tricky bits are the stitches as you don’t know exactly how they respond to the coloured cream.

I think a tapered strap looks way better btw.

While I have no issue with using non-original straps, and regularly change them. I do have a thing for wanting to use the original buckle/clasp. So that does restrict me in taper/no taper.

Same here. The original buckel/clasp is a must for me.

I somehow end up never quite liking the OEM ones (or get bored quickly not sure?) so have a couple of straps to rotate. Anyway, certainly cheaper to change the strap than buy a new watch!

I have a couple of Toshi straps. They are beautifully made with lovely leather. But they are thick. When you add the keeper you end up with about 1cm of strap on the inside of your wrist, and when you are using the mouse it becomes a damn nuisance.

Just tried it, seems like very good stuff, thanks again. Adds a nice extra softness to the touch and a warm, very subtle sheen after application.

I have one on these and it is excellent. I have one for my Panerai. But it is thick as others have said. No issue with the Panerai but for a more delicate watch is may be more of an issue.

Best watch I’ve seen on here for ages. Love Panerai.
Toshi seems to make lots of straps for that particular brand.

They are not specifically made for Panerai but simply go particularly well with them. Richard, Mr Toshi, is a big fan of Panerai and thus they get used in the strap pictures. When I had a Toshi on a Rolex the lug end of the strap had to be made extra thin, and even then it rubbed.

Thanks. It’s the Base model. The cheapest and possibly the nicest one they make.

Currently on a strap with a bit more wear. I think it’s a Heroic18.

I agree, possibly their nicest model. I generally like Panerai but have never been too fond of their small seconds hand.

It is simple, easy to read, well made and people that don’t know watches won’t notice it.
The chap I buy my HiFi from has one and he was surprised I knew what it was. My dilemma was Panerai or upgrade the Uniti Star to an Altair G2.1. The Altair won, but it was very close. Maybe one day.

Yes you rarely see them around. Occasionally you’ll see someone in business with one of the submersible automatic models.

But with the manual model you also get this:
