I see that my Nato straps thread has lapsed so I thought I would post this here. Although Zulu Alpha Straps did take a while, I received this rather lovely strap, and not far in terms of quality and feel to the Tudor ones, probably the best alternative I’ve had.
@Crashwilliams - many thanks for the insight and suggestion, superb quality stuff!

It’s a very cool watch indeed, and one of the more interesting of the Speedmaster line. Yours looks to be in very nice condition.

Thanks Richard. It’s in great condition but has been over-polished at some point in its life on the face of the case. Strap links are nicely tight and properly brushed. I’m thinking of sending it off to Omega in Switzerland to have it fully refinished. It’s not too expensive (unlike Rolex or Patek), but it does take 8 months to get it back.

That’s a shame, but I know how hard it can be to find one that hasn’t been over-polished. When I was looking for a nice Speedmaster Professional Mark II I saw so many that had had their crisp edges rounded off and brushed finish partially or completely removed. In the end I went for one that had a refinished case, but even here there were some horrors where too much metal had been removed, especially noticeable when looking side-on at the hidden lugs. The one I eventually bought was done really nicely - only issue now is that it’s so good I’m afraid a scratch will ruin it!

Thankfully the edges and brushed sides to mine are crisp and unmolested, it’s just the front of the case is too shiny - it should be brushed too, like the bracelet. I think it’s worth the investment to send to Omega. The movement is a unique Lemania, solely developed for the 125 and never used again. It’s a hulk of a watch, bigger than a Royal Oak Offshore. I love it.

I have a Mk II that a family friend gave me; it’s completely polished. Unfortunately.

I must have been lucky with my Railmaster, as the front of the lugs, and the case sides, are beautifully brushed. I did wonder if I was paying over the odds, but as it had just had an Omega service and came with a brand new Omega deployant alligator strap, I suspect not, especially given its rarity value.
