Not my best pictures, but there you go.

2017 and still current model at the top.
2001 version ( think this version came out in 1995) bottom one.

Thanks for posting these. Both stunning watches. Love the Omega Seamaster!

There’s a used 2024 on eBay. Tempted

Just for reference, i paid less that £3k for my 2017. £200 less from Goldsmiths.

It’s alot of watch for the money. You bought used I take it?

Have 2 Omega Seamasters both with the 601-1 calibre, a Seamaster 120 (ST 135.0027) from 1970 on various different NATO leather straps (tan, brown, black) and the other, a black-faced Seamaster Deville (ST135.0028) from 1967 stainless steel case on a black calf leather strap.

Plus an '61 Omega 286 (ST 131.0001), White face, stainless steel case on a tan leather strap.
Then a “Omega ‘RAF” CK 2292 specification Calibre 30 T2 SC (or 30 SC T2) from 1943, white face with bluish hands, on a black fabric NATO strap. What’s interesting is this has 18 jewels, whereas most were only 16 jewel movements.
Hard to find details on this movement.

All working, with good time-keeping tolerance.

I had to stop buying, as the potential servicing costs at €350 per watch plus spare parts (Omega straps at €350 to €400 each) and with these, plus a 1960’s Sheffield Allsports vintage diver on leather strap, a Citizen Promaster Aqualand Automatic ‘Leftie’ Diver on a rubber strap and a Charriol Columbus tank on a stainless strap, think I have all the use bases covered.

Of course, there is a Tag Carrera Valjoux 72 that catches my eye every so often, and I have to stop myself.

Yeah, I met a PanAm pilot once and he told me about that heritage. Very impressive.

Yes, you’re right. It is academic as it won’t be going for a service. It was never off my wrist for 20 years tbh but I wear it less often these days. It’s been to the tropics, the Arctic and circumnavigated the globe a number of times and never missed a beat. I took celestial sights with it for years and it always kept great time.

Toon, Impressive that your watch is still running accurately (impressive that it is running at all!!) after 40 years. I’m no expert on these matters but I would suggest it prudent to treat it to a ‘watch health spa’. If he is still working, William Rice Watches serviced two watches for me a few years ago and I was super impressed with his approach. My watch never ran very accurately from new - the original dealer tried to assure me it was ‘within tolerance’. It could not have been. Worked much more accurately after Bill Rice serviced it. I’m sure there are other specialists out there but this was my experience and impression given is that he specialises in Rolex. Lovely watch you have there.

Peter

PS Sorry - just noticed your later reply and clearly the watch health spa ain’t happening!

As well as the citizen titanium super tough I thought I’d try one of their automatics, and hopefully better results than my recent Seiko!
The Citizen ‘Fujitsubo’ titanium automatic with myota 9051 hi beat movement.. seems to be plus 5 in the first 24 hrs of ownership

That looks rather good. I have to admit the Citizen Challenge diver is an interesting watch. I loved reading about this one on Monochrome.

According to them, “In 1983, a Citizen Challenge Diver from 1977 was recovered from an Australian beach. The watch was covered in barnacles, indicating it had been underwater for several years, as these slowly build up over time. Surprisingly, it was still in running condition as the movement was shielded from water and dirt by its case.”

Decided to remove the textile strap and install the leather one instead. I slightly prefer the look of the leather one. It’s also more comfortable (as the padding in the textile strap is a little too stiff towards the top parts of the strap where it curves against the wrist bone, making the watch tilt a bit to either side).

Lovely timepiece. Simple design, love the dial and colours.
I prefer the leather strap too. :+1:
