If it started 5 years ago it can’t be Charlie’s influence, though it looks like a new broom running amok. Have Focal similarly abandoned their long term agents? Assuming they had any.
The new Aus/NZ distributor
Just checked out their NZ Naim retailer. They only stock Muso and the Uniti range…
Well there you go, they’ll reduce Naim to a lifestyle product to match your expensive wheels.
Perhaps @charlie.henderson might like to comment please on what’s happening with the Naim supply chain and support in New Zealand and Australia then?
That was mentioned, as it happens.
Mike, AFAIK it’s a Vervent group change and the existing NZ distribution arrangements stay in place until the Summer. I would guess we’ll know more before then.
However, as mentioned before, this is somewhat off topic for this thread.
Yes, should probably start another thread.
When I had a holiday in Dominican Republic in 2004 (N.B. Brugal is from there not Dominica!) I was shocked at the price of rum. How cheap it was! I visited the Brugal distillery, and bought a couple of their oldest, most expensive, rum to bring home - may have been that one, I don’t recall exactly what it was called: about £3 each! The locals seemed to drink rum and coke as if it was water - and a gallon of the standard rum was about £2!
Yes, you are right Dominicans drink, party and dance like the world is ending tomorrow. I am from Dominican Republic but not a heavy drinker.
Hi Geko,
Yes, I remember it being discussed on a previous thread. IIRC it was @Adam.Meredith who mentioned that they found a small benefit from adding an extra base to a Fraim. If memory serves, that was one extra layer, not a doubling of the entire two level base. Again, if my memory is correct (?) it was an additional upper level of the pair, so 1x bottom shelf with the longer spikes + 2x the second level with the shorter spikes. If Adam is around perhaps he can either confirm or correct this?
Hi KJC,
I’ve just checked a photo of my friends Statement system and it’s definitely two entire Fraim bases that he’s using. I’d post the picture but he’s in it I’m afraid. I never heard the A/B but he thought it was worth while.
Just imagine what 3 or 4 Fraim bases could do!!!
As in the pics, the Statements sits on isolation devices or isolation platform. Apparently it can improve still their performance.
So, where does one find such a platform?
I very much suspect that the platforms are just for the show - like a stage. Every picture of Statement in real life has them on the floor, as they were in the Naim dem room. I suspect that Fraim Chips are a good idea as the amps are so heavy.
Yeah, but that platform really makes quite a statement!
Mitch
The Statement is supplied with Naim floor protectors in the accessory pack so I think you should use these as described in the manual. I think the platform is just for the show like HH said.
Ian
They do come with their only Statement shoes- little fat ones in fact looking like curling pucks. ATB Peter
