"First world problems!"
Now, that’s funny!!!
The verdict is in. 500’s plead “no lo contendre”.
Installation was yesterday (March 9th) and it seems to get better with each new LP I play. Just finished listening to an audiophile copy of “Tommy”. I thought I had heard it 100’s of times; I was wrong. I had never heard it before. I cranked it up and Entwistle and Moon had returned from the other world, with a couple of buddies, to make an appearance in my living room. It truly was an otherworldly experience.
Congratulations. Gorgeous, beautiful sophisticated, wonderful and that’s just the whiskey collection!!!
What an incredible journey you are on, thank you for sharing with us. I so look forward to reading your thoughts.
Now…mobile phone off…tv off…snacks and refreshments ready…close all doors…you have much work to do…listen and enjoy!!!
I bet it’s sounding as awesome as it looks!
Congrats!
…IT’S LIGHTS ON!! Looks great Mitch and a congrats from me, and as you say there will be more treats over the next couple of weeks. Best Peter
Try Young Man Blues, the opening track from Live at Leeds - I heard that at Graham’s in London many years ago on a pair of DBLs - it was just as if Keith was with us, drumsticks flying everywhere. And that was before Statement.
Fantastic! congratulations! Oh man the dilemma of what to rediscover next ha! Enjoy
You had me looking for the Statement components the scale of you speakers dwarfed them. You lucky fella !
Brilliant @Mitch. It looks fantastic and I bet it sounds the same.
If you don’t mind my asking which “audiophile” copy of Tommy did you play?
Cheers
Dave
Thanks to all for your comments and encouragement. Believe me when I say, I haven’t gotten bored yet. lol There are sooooo many considerations when choosing what to play next. I just played some audiophile vinyl from Queen. With all due respect to Curtis Mayfield, Fred is NOT dead!
@NorfolkT
My copy of “Tommy” is from Track Record from 2013.
I would be most happy to entertain you with great music and fine drams whenever you are ready. I’m in N. Massapequa on Long Island. Richard Dane has offered to share my personal contact info (since we’re not allowed to do so on this public forum). Just reach out to him and he will get it to you.
This offer is good for anyone on this site. One of life’s (at least mine) great pleasures is to share great music and fine whisky with those who have a passion for it.
What a lovely chap you are, Mitch.
The ultimate offer, listen to what must be one of the world’s finest hifi systems while quaffing some of the best whiskies in the world. I only wish I could get there.
Enjoy the music!
I have a pretty good long term memory & my wife and I like to visit NY in the future. Good chance that we will contact you
I’m not sure how “lovely” I am, but I do appreciate the sentiment. I wish you could get here too. You’d be most welcome! Please let me know if you find a way to visit NY. And trust me, I WILL be enjoying the music! I’m about to spin a 180 gram, 45 RPM, MOFI recording of Jefferson Airplane’s “Surrealistic Pillow” in mono. I’m guessing it will not suck…
I look forward to the day. On the downside, I probably will not have any Ardbeg 10y on hand (I’m not a peat monster kinda guy). But if you like the peat, you’ll have to settle for a Talisker 21 or maybe a Highland Park 25. Sorry…
Have you tried Ardbeg Uigeadail? It’s my favorite routine scotch but I’m a big peat fan.
It’s officially on my bucket list…having lived in Michigan and never getting to NY…hey this is a great invite😎
@jsaudio
I believe I had the Uigeadail 4 or 5 years ago. I remember thinking campfires and ashtrays…lol
Hope you are able to work out the visit.
Lovely mitch
Enjoy enjoying it
