500 to 500DR?

I would say at 500 level there is a cumulative effect along with a really good power block.

Yeah I know it’s just I’d like both done at the same time and to know that’s it for my whole system for a very long time…

Well, if that’s the case, then the sensible thing is to wait until the power supply needs a service and then get both done at the same time. In the meantime, enjoy them, as pointless servicing them early.
Are you going to send all your naim gear you own now, years earlier to be serviced ? I doubt it, so whats different.

The article states the 500 was built in 2007 I thought the service interval is every 15 years

Dunc, I’ve given you a fair bit of leeway here but I feel this is now crossing a line - please have more respect for Naim and for forum rules.

Richard
I haven’t said anything other than put a few people right on what i had about my 500dr.
I know lots don’t like me now on here, and that’s fine. But all i have done is stated when it was DRed and how old the caps are in the power supply, as a member of this site has asked about it.
What is wrong with that?

Just noticed a post of mine has gone, with the info on the caps.

If they want the information then they can get it from whoever is selling your kit.

It wasn’t my intention to cause stress on the forum if I have then I apologise to all involved.

In the same light, Richard, if people want to post things, then get them right.
As the wrong info helps no one

No stress at all from me, mate.

Maybe it is a good idea to rename the thread

500 to 500DR or not 500 to 500 DR, that is the question😉

Alas poor @Stu299 i knew him well😂

The Powerline made a big difference. Dare I say it, I’ve moved a few steps away from the brink :grimacing:

I’m thinking of going for a 500 within the next few months but my 300 sounds excellent this morning it must know the future

I realise this is a personal call and I have made many purchases that to some would seem unhinged but I have on occasion kicked tyres with the idea of upgrading my 300DR to a 500DR but cannot get around my perception that the price differential just cannot be worth it and I would just have to try other options before spending so much money (e.g. active speakers).

Inertia has then kept me enjoying my 300DR into SL2s / n-sub.

The 500dr is a great amp, and it proved this to me just a few weeks ago, if i could have made it work in my system, then i would still be using it now.
I my view its one off the best things naim makes

I am of a similar mind sjb. I would love a 552/500 but the cost is just too much for me. My system has already cost crazy money and it sounds great. Happy to stick.

The crazy thing is we all have excellent setups but crave for the next best thing.

100%. That’s the beauty of Naim. Ticking our audio boxes. We can go as far as we dare, or bank balance allow. I’m currently sat in the kitchen after cooking a wonderful meal and my Gen1 Muso sounds awesome.
