Trouble is Covid has really messed with my head. Other than medical appointments and some shopping (all with a mask) I haven’t done any indoor gatherings due to anxiety issues. The thought of a sweaty indoor gig both excites me and fills me with dread. I’m currently on the back end of a dose of Covid and in all honesty can’t see me attending the gig at this moment in time.

Australian Pink Floyd - Darkside50 Tour - Manchester
Deacon Blue - Manchester
Marc Cohn - London

Just scored tickets to see Elton John on his final tour down under this Sunday night. I’ve seen probably 8 to 10 times since the 70s and saw his first gig in Sydney, seems only fitting that I see his last tour.

After seeing his first Australian show back in the early 70s it was rather fitting to see Elton John on his final (Farewell Yellow Brick Road) tour. Place was packed as he played a set list based in the 70s only I’m Still Standing Philadelphia Freedom and Guess That’s Why They Call in the Blues ventured outside his most productive period. He came out for his encore in a dressing gown and started it with last years number one.

He’s definitely struggling to reach some notes and appeared to have forgotten the odd word however at 76 no one cared.

Elton John setlist from Newcastle, NSW 8 January 2023.

Bennie and the Jets (from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, 1973)
Philadelphia Freedom (single, 1975)
I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues

Have Mercy on the Criminal (from Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, 1973)

I know exactly how you feel, I have been very cautious , the one time I relaxed I caught it.

I loved the covers they did over Lockdown , their version of Wish You Were Here was spectacularly good

Like so many forum members your tastes don’t go to one type of music

That’s an impressive list

I tested positive three weeks ago today and still feel rough. My Dad tested positive on the same day and is still testing positive.
I’ve done hardly anything through the pandemic and always wore a mask on the rare occasions I’ve been in an indoor setting. Certainly don’t want it again.
If I caught it being careful I think it’s a given I’ll catch it again at a gig.

It took me a month to shake it, hope you dad improves.
