English Premier League Season 2023/24

I’ll not hold my breath and not because I think they’ll lay down on purpose I just think Postenoclue has been found out big time, the players have lost their bottle, given up the fight and there are rumours of dressing room unrest.

And though it would be the Spursiest moment of all time and even though the cyclical nature of The Spuds having a direct hand in our last PL crown and almost exactly 20 years later our next one is so deliciously Spursy I’m afraid their bottle has gone.

To think and this isn’t a dig at Chelsea that even after possibly your worst season in more than a decade, after all that has happened this past season you could still end up finishing above The Spuds.
Who I believe are set to have an historic lowest finishing place by a team who had been top after 10 games.

77% of teams top after 10 games finish in the top three.

Re Spursy its interesting as before they played Chelsea at home they had played 10 matches and got 26 points so fast out of the gate, whereas post then they have played another 24 games for 34 points. I suspect there are a number of reasons, the ones that spring to mind for me are a) losing Maddison and VDV for months post the Chelsea match b) lacking depth of squad c) teams have worked out how to stop them from playing, i.e. congest the middle of the park. To be fair to Mr Ang(Ry)e and the same goes for Poch I don’t think he (they) should be judges on season 1, if I remember correctly I don’t think Capt Black (Arteta) had the best of 1st seasons either.

Re Chelsea if we can finish 6th (I think Spursy will hold onto 5th) that would be a good result in light of our exceptionally mixed performances this season. Just need ARSEnal to beat Man U, Man U to beat Newcastle…and of course win our own games!

David, this is where you are going wrong in life.

There’s no point trying to talk common sense with an Arsenal fan.

They live in their own inflated bubble filled with hot air…

I’ll jump in if I may.
Moyes got the same disgraceful treatment as Allardyce, won’t ever matter how he leaves the club unless he takes Sullivan with him

I live near Reading and agree it is often the owners not the managers , I think he has done a good job.

Some teams (Not Man City) have faltered having gone deep into Europe and I think that includes West Ham

I agree both teams should keep their managers Mikel did win an FA Cup in his first season beating you in the final but yes his following season was 8th , his next 5th and then 2nd.

The Spursy thing is all about the owners and the culture rewatch Conte’s rant before he left he hits the nail on the head.

Without saying too much I think it is fair to say that Levy sets and maintains the culture and not in a positive sense… apparently Mr Ang(ry)e is really nice guy, very engaging of all staff.

What do you expect from a duo as clueless and classless as the Porn Dwarf and Lady Muck?

Disagree about Allardyce though. Contrary to the myth put about by pundits and newspaper hacks, he was never sacked, his contract ran out. Allardyce served up rotten football and disrespected the fanbase and deserved everything he got.

David Moyes brought West Ham European Football and a trophy for the first time in many, many years and deserves huge credit but is he the man to take the next steps, probably not if West Ham are to get Amorin from Sporting Lisbon or someone of a similar talent then I think it’s the right move for the club.

That is indeed true.

The result in Prague last year papered over a lot of the cracks in the team and the way we played. Truth be told, Moyes has been a dead man walking for more than a year, with sometimes dour football, terrible results (especially in London derbies), poor recruitment, bizarre subsitutions etc. It’s all very well playing low block, on-the-break football but if your defence is as leaky as ours (we’ve conceded more goals this season than anyone outside the bottom three) then there’s no point

At least he will leave you with some silverware - and European at that .

These days it is a handful of clubs that dominate .

Would love Amorim @Bobthebuilder but I don’t think it’s going to happen. Fonseca would have been good too, but looks like we’re going to get Lopetegui (after all, he’s out of work meaning that the Porn Dwarf doesn’t have pay out compo).

Slightly disappointing if true, but the club definitely needs a fresh pair of hands on the tiller and the team needs to be completely rebuilt around Bowen and Kudus, assuming the latter stays (I think Paquetá will go, let’s hope Steidten and/or the new manager spends the money wisely). I, and most of the faithful, will be giving the new man, whoever he is, a chance – and I am sure Moyesiah will be given a decent send-off next weekend.

Whatever the media might tell you, most fans who go to games hold Moyesiah in high affection (even if we’ve been terrible all through 2024, apart from the superb game against Bayer Leverkusen a few weeks ago).

…not keen on finishing what we started)?

Ha!

J-Lo was one of the managers that Palace were interested in but when I read up about him I don’t think he is that impressive. Also, at the age of 59 he is hardly the ‘young, progressive, European’ manager that has become a legal requirement for EPL clubs to have these days. ( From a Palace fan with a young, progressive, European manager )

We have Sullivan as our chairman. Appointing a young, progressive European manager is about as likely as finding Elvis playing on Mars.

Let’s hope the players give him a great send off and beat the cheats last day of the season.

C’mon the hammers!!!

He’s done the club proud and should leave his head held high. He has his critics but Moyes is a proper football guy IMV.

Our first trophy in in decades plus three seasons’ worth of brilliant, memorable nights in Europe Mike. We all have reason to be grateful to the Moyesiah for that!
