English Premier League Season 2023/24

Can’t argue with that analysis.

You’ve just superimposed an American sports blue print onto the Premier League I mean it’s an easy assumption to make but you are forgetting one thing the fans, remember what happened when they tried to set up the European Super League fan revolt was so huge that they hand to back track and apologise.

This American blue print you speak of has evolved over a century and wasn’t just superimposed over a pre existing way of operating and onto a very different culture. This isn’t America this Island is smaller than many US states so where are these club Super Stadiums going to move to Liverpool to Birmingham or Arsenal to Cardiff? I can possibly see a situation where Chelsea say might build a stadium out in Middlesex but what difference would that make anyway the days of all supporters being local and walking a half mile or so to watch matches are gone.

I can see a world where some American ideas are transferred but the whole sale changes you predict will never happen.

The fans didn’t win the owners didn’t have total charge. Once they have the numbers I can see big changes as bhoyo suggests.

Or his ‘handball’ goal…

Against us lot 10.2.73. Yes I have a long memory…

I think he did it again against West Ham.

A cheat. Just like the horrid Thierry Henry.

Reading the Beeb, I think Poch is giving out the vibes that he wants out.

Maybe before he gets pushed.

Problem is, West Ham made it look easy last year… …as Villa found out last night.

I didn’t predict or superimpose a blueprint, Bob. I said three things will probably happen if/when there are 14 American owners, and posited some other possibilities.

Fortunately for me (and many others here), we’ll be too old and decrepit to care once all this starts. And it will start if the American owners get the numbers and vote as a bloc.

Game’s full of anomolies

As an aside, like all clubs trying to join the elite you seem to find yourselves at a X roads. Sell best player. Manager judged to have under achieved. Remove. Recruit new manager who may be better but is just as likely to be worse. Football’s version of the circle of life?

You’ve got to let go of the Gooners thing, they’ve been at a different level to Spurs for most of my life.

Not really. If by “sell best player” you mean that guy who went to Lego Head’s mob, well, we’ve done better without him, he was obviously holding us back :joy:

We’ve conceded 70 goals this season, more than anyone outside the bottom three. Without a strong start to the season, we’d be in a relegation scrap. That’s not acceptable. The Tartan Diego Simeone is leaving with the fans’ thanks for the three seasons in Europe, two top seven EPL finishes and a European trophy, but it’s time for a change. J-Lo, or whoever the manager is might be better or he might be worse, but Moyesiah is coming to the end of his time with the club.

Cultural level, yeh maybe.

They are on a much lower one.

Love Moye’s honesty, "Why have you suffered such big defeats? "…“Declan Rice!”

And mine.

…and that is us, goodbye & thanks for the fish but we are done. It has been a great ride and I am really proud of the team, they gave everything they could but it is just a step too far for us; better sides have prevailed. Taking away the points deductions just shows how far adrift the bottom three were at the end of the day. I had an early lift when we scored but it is usually the way after half time when we start to ship goals. Forest playing in a few minutes will already know the situation. At least we sent Moyes off with a last home victory but the shame is that the final game is really now just a formality instead of the white hot will, they, won’t they game. There have been some cracking games that will live in the memory and we will wait & see if we can build again for next season in the Championship. Will sadly have to leave the thread :

So the EPL managed to save Everton and Forest by giving them the lightest of punishments. Forest I think were lucky. Everton had to survive - the EPL need their new ground in the top flight. That limited what they could do to Forest. In short, cheating has gone unpunished. Will be interesting to see what happens to Foxes. Got away with it to date but will they start 24/25 with a points deduction? Best league in the world. It’s almost a franchise and City have killed competition. Interesting to see if their 100+ charges ever amount to anything? Unlikely given their owners. They may of course be innocent of all 100 plus charges. There’s clearly no rush to find out.

Think the FA cup provided the best entertainment for neutrals this year (again).

Shame for Luton. They were entertaining despite being proper underdogs. A better thread awaits @PaulM

Steady, if not quite impressive, win for my boys. Pretty much guaranteeing 5th place.

I’ve heard that Ange has agreed to our Supporters Club request to play our under 18’s in midweek…

I would love to see Real Madrid at Stoke on a Wednesday cup match in January …

I think that Rob and the boys can hold their heads high. I wonder if Jim Ratcliffe has been on the phone to Rob yet?
