The naysayers need to grab each others hands feeling they belong to something and eat popcorn together. Always same people, same expert comments. Boring.
Yes, agreed it tends to just get tedious. Somebody obviously feels itâs a viable proposition enough to make it, market it and offer it for sale. If youâre interested then try it, and if you feel itâs worth the money then by all means buy it. If not then donât bother. The main thing is you have a choice. Simple
Thereâs the same thread still running since May 2020 ( Ethernet cables - YOUR LISTENING Shooutout Summary
Good point FR. Probably best to merge the threads to keep it all together.
Richard, you seem weary. I donât blame you.
Many are, HH.
I find most of the posts in this thread are very entertaining, letâs keep it going.
How is it moving along?
KS-1 has its strengths and the initial sharpness has disappeared over time. However, it is significantly thinner in sound and not as meaty and rich as the Naca5, so I guess Naca will once again have to stay ![]()
I see. That has been my struggle with Naca5 together with the limitations in detail and separation. But itâs good on boogie indeed
I believe you had a similar conclusion with Oephi Ascendance which sounded great in my system ![]()
That was my resume as well ![]()
This sounds to me that it possibly wasnât terminated optimally?
It was. Have had them three different times in my system. Itâs doing some good things but in the end my conclusion has been it is not letting all information through. Itâs limited both in deep bass as in highs. Itâs a good cable but not good enough IMO.
All speaker cables have their pros and cons and none suits everyone, itâs more about finding the cable that suits you and your system best, which can be difficult enough I think.
Agree on that.
But Nac 5 has a tendency to be pulling more to the bass side than higher frequency.
Probably fitâs better in an all naim system with speakers to try and pull it back to a more natural stance.
It certainly canât show the top end details that some systems will have.
I disagree on all accounts here, but there you go, none of us are all the same. Personally, i find most modern Hifi today too bright, lacks proper mid-bass power, body and real depth. Like an amplified mobile phone.
Yes, Naca5 are meaty, one of the reasons I like them and the fact that they have a slightly toned down top suits me too, I strongly dislike too much energy in the treble range.
Yes but dont confused too much energy into the treble against detail.
As you can have detail without the extra energy
Especially in a digital setup. Nothing worse than that IMHO.
I would reluctantly agree with you there, Naim included
