My 2 Cat 6 BJC replaced 2 AQ Cinnamons and they were instantly better. And I was shocked at how much more they improved after a week of normal playback.
And I already had 2 BJC Cat 6 connecting the modem to the router (AE) and the router to the Cisco 2960 prior to the addition of these cables.
Donāt give up on this forum, Peder.
You are a scientist of SQ.
This empirical testing by your group is a source of really interesting and useful information about how to take streaming to ever higher levels of SQ.
I love hearing about your adventures in sound.
Rise above the pisstake - itās core to English culture so it goes with the turf.
Funny you should say this because my system now sounds like it did when I had all Cinnamons with a Netgear GS 105. It was only when I added a Cisco 2960 and a Vodka did things properly wake up and give me some excitement that Iām now missing. It sounds plastic with no verveā¦the firework tries to go off and then poofā¦
I have all Cat-6 UTP on my network, 2x MeiCord & 1x BJC. I moved to Cat-6 UTP from Cat-7A F/FTP, a good move that bought balance, detail & finesse to the sound.
With the lengths we use in home audio, Cat-6 will perform to Cat-6A levels anyway, probably better. The unknown factor that I have with screened cables is what the screen brings (good/bad/benign), my experience was not that good.
I personally have not tried a comparison with BJC Cat-6 & Cat-6A but I know someone who has with a Cyrus system, he was undecided & eventually moved the Cat-6A to his office sub-network.
I will leave them in but itās not looking promising. Itās boring. That is the only word that springs to mind. The only exciting thing about all of this is the fact that these Bluues jeans cables might of passed by Elvisās house before boarding the planeā¦
If I recall correctly the shielding is floating with the BJC which I think negates the coupling effect. Not sure though and thatās getting into the technical part thatās above my pay grade.
Yes I should have mentioned that, the passive screen negates any possibility of grounding issues & it should go someway to suppress some external interference
I am Norwegian but having lived many years abroad I have gotten to know quite a few Brits. I also think the comments made are not as āseriousā as they would be in Norwegian/Swedish/Danish. After all, the Danes like to call Norwegians āMountain Monkeysā and Norwegians and Swedes often talk about each other in ways that most likely would be offensive in other cultures. But we mean no harm and also refer to each other as āsweet brotherā.
From Wikipedia about when Life of Brian was banned in Norway:
Some countries, including Ireland and Norway banned its showing, with a few of these bans lasting decades. The filmmakers used such notoriety to benefit their marketing campaign, with posters in Sweden reading, āSo funny, it was banned in Norway!ā
Anyway, let us go back to the cable flagellation! At its best it is very entertaining and there are certainly things to learn from these discussions and experiments.
Jim, they are boring. It really is as simple as that. I donāt have the time for things to need more time. The AQs are different class. You know from the off whether something is good (from already good) or not and when it becomes better with time, itās good.
Yeah, man.
Thatās one sweet ground loop.
Vampirically silent background.
Crystal clear sound of sticks touching ride cymbal, rimshots, brushes on taut snare skin, vibrating strings of the double bass, tinkling of the ivories.
