You’re saying that on the newer products, stations are stored locally, but this is also the case on Gen1 devices. My Gen1 Msuo still connects to a custom radio station, although vTuner isn’t there anymore. If the station is not stored on the device, this would never work.
Here is an example station. All that information is stored on our backend servers and the product just references the ID marked up in red.
If a user wants to add their own station all those details in the above screenshot (+stream url) has to be stored somewhere.
the older products don’t have the free storage to atore so much info. They only have reserved space for preset that reference a station stream number..
on the older system (vtuner) stored it on their server and then assigned a unique id to it. But as mentioned above, as soon as we introduce user accounts / store information owned by customers then we need to obey all the data protection laws that are out there.
I updated my mu-so1 last night using the naim app. Make sure you delete all saved stations first, let the update do its thing and then allow a bit of time for the new stations to show in the station lists. Select your new favorites and good to go.
Seems to have found all the stations i had before, and more, and a simple exercise much like when i updated my main streamer previously.
I just upgraded my Muso 1. It was idle for an hour. Now it won’t restart at all. I plug it in. I unplug it. It won’t turn on at all. Do you have a solution? Thanks
I registered on this forum in the hope of finding a solution… this morning my radio wasnt working, found I needed a FW update… fast forward, this has completely bricked the device… ive tried all the tips but it has a single white light on and thestatus indicator on the back is red
I had a similar thing happen with one of my Mu-Sos when I was trying to do the update. Don’t worry though, it just means something went wrong during the update. Unplug the unit from the mains and leave it a few minutes, dismiss and then re-start the App, make sure you have a really strong wireless connection (or plug in via ethernet), then plug back in. See my post here;
Thanks, I managed to get Tidal up and running again as an input :-). I assume the sound quality is higher than going via bluetooth and then selecting Tidal? Or is the bluetooth just more flakey connection-wise but the sound quality the same? Apologies for being a bit of a digital philistine…
Hi Richard , yes I had selected that. Anyway while leaving my phone search for the Muso for about 50 mins it displayed the searching wheel but when I paged back, there was my device
I have now retuned my radio and am back up and running.
Connecting directly with Tidal is better than Bluetooth. The newer Naim devices will play the highest Tidal quality streams, but not the green screen devices. They will stream CD quality, which is still excellent.
You are not a digital philistine. Whilst many like to tinker with their networks and endlessly compare file types, let’s not forget that it should be the love of music that motivates us. What separates Naim equipment from the competition is the stunning lifelike sound quality that allows us to be completely consumed into a musical escapist oblivion. To be continually reminded of the technology is a failure. Fabulous music adds to our quality of life.
