Firmware update on mu-so1

Thanks for explaining, really appreciate the information.

Thankyou this has not worked… seem to be able to get i to two states… the one described above with red status indicator

And a new one where the blue status light is shown and on the dial alternating white segments are shown

In both cases the device is not responsive in the app

And i cant remove or re add it

I think ill be on a call with support tomorrow

Thanks all for your support… in the event of things… it was completely bricked and I’d about given up… I left it switched off overnight and today when I switched it on it fully self recovered with no input from me at all - FW update applied fine
this was all very stressful!

I didn’t see these messages before trying to update the firmware on my 1st Gen MuSo last night…It seems to have, eventually, done it…at least, my app tells me it is complete! And, I can rutn the MuSo on and off from the app…But there is no sound coming from any of the radio presets.

Reading through things, it looks as though we have to wait until Valentines Day before things will be resolved…we love you too, Naim!!

I did the same update (eventually) laat night, but didn’t know I was supposed to delete all saved stations, so I didn’t do that deletion. Now, none of the saved stations seem to work…

The update came a week early, so ignore feb 14 for a Naim release.
The old presets were vtuner ones which are now redundant; delete and replace with new Naim iradio ones.

Weirdly I’ve come back from a weekend away and my two Qbs are still reporting that here is no update, they’re on 2.0.0. I’ve powered both Qbs off and on again and checked the app is up to date, I rebooted the router on Friday in case there was a local cache.
I have a new hub to install tomorrow, I suppose try that first, see if that clears a weird router issue, and if not pinhole reset I guess.

You have to delete the old ones first. Then Run the update again and then when the list of stations are loaded (be patient and wait for the muso to reappear on app) then click on the ones you wish to save as favourites. If you don’t delete first in my experience the update fails.

I think after My muso reappeared in the app I may have even exited the app and then reopened it but can’t be sure

Thank you. I have done that and can now at least listen to things! I just can’t remember how to add the stations to the new preset list I need to create!

Ah, please ignore that, I’ve just remembered! Thanks for your help

Hi Richard
Am I missing something. I am trying to update my Muso1 using the firmware option in the app (ver 7.3). Do I have to wait until Feb 14th to be able to do this? If so, how is everyone else updating their Muso1’s

Thank you for all your help
Owen

Owen, as you will read, the update was released ahead of schedule, so good news, and need to wait until the 14th.

Richard I fear that unless the forum is placed into “read only” mode, there will be a plethora of new posts on the same subject, come Friday. You will need a quiet weekend to recover after your much appreciated and valiant efforts.
Still a puzzle as to how you achieve so much, with so little internet speed; ah I recall, perhaps several of your collection of mbks pressed into service no doubt, as RD chat bots?

Hi, I was having real problems with getting the firmware to install and feared that I had bricked the mu-so. I tried the various power cycles & resets on Sunday and then again tonight with no joy at all and then just tried removing the LAN cable and doing another reset - that was it sorted !
So might be worth a try if anyone else is having issues
regards Steve

Was the update tested with Android 9 device? It was running App 7.3, It timed out with download fail messge. Could also have been not enough memory on phone for the file?
Two things to consider if others are having issues.

I could only get update to run with install of the app on a Chromebook.

I ran the firmware update on my mu-so Qb 1st gen this morning via my phone running Android 15. The Focal & Naim app was already updated to the latest version. The download went smoothly, but I made sure to keep the phone awake and keep the app in the foreground until the download was completed, a power the instructions. I did not delete my list of preset stations prior to downloading the firmware and it installing. The instructions made clear that this only needs to be done once the firmware had been updated. Once the install was complete it took about 5 mins for my mu-so to show up again in the app after closing and reopening. I then manually deleted all my presets, opened the iRadio tab and re-populated my preset list. All is working fine. Having gone through the pain of updating firmware on this and other Naim streaming devices in the past, this was by far the smoothest, least glitch-free updating experience of the lot.

Is that typo or are you saying it was smooth but extremely glitchy?

Ha! Yes, good catch, bad edit! MOST glitch free or least glitchy.
