Firmware update v. 3.7.0

Actually Roon has not been updated for a month, and my roon server is on Linux.

Makes no sense that the remotes affect the behavior of the streamer, as they only give the play command and nothing besides the Naim firmware was changed.

I agree that it doesn’t make much sense  But on the other hand it seems to work for nearly everyone else, I’m grasping at straws

You mentioned that this is also being discussed on the Roon forum, do you mean the thread “Naim Unity Nova firmware updated now screen does not work”?

Yes I think is that post, I also replied to the user to post here.

The thing is, as far as I can tell this other user has a completely dark screen, no? If this is the case and yours is different, then there’s only you with this particular issue as far as we know

Not important as the ndx plays and works with roon anyway, I will wait for the next update, this for me is only cosmetic behavior of the streamer on the roon software.

It’s a simple issue, it shows the cover on the first time when I have the option to turn off screen enabled, then it stays constantly off skipping a track or selecting other album, if I set the screen to stay on it works well. Strange no one ele has noticed this. If I use the ndx remote unit the screen turns on and show the next cover.

But I mainly control roon with my tablet or computer never use the remote.

The Naim app works perfectly as before but rarely use it in my case, I invested strongly in the roon ecosystem. I only noticed because was an behavior I liked was cool to see when using roon with the ndx. And maybe this is the expected behavior now.

English is not my main language so explaining is a little more difficult to me than I expected to be.

Thanks for your kind reply’s.

It’s such an odd thing, but glad it’s not bothering you too much. I forgot if you reported it to Naim support, they should be able to find out more. I hope it gets sorted

Hey!

I’m also a beta test member and the behavior you describe is exactly what I experience.

Both with Roon and the Naim app the cover art shows when you start playback and then not again when you change songs or albums with the Naim app or Roon.

I use Roon exclusively for playback but checked with the Naim app and had exactly the same behavior.

My screen also lights up when using the remote.

As far as I was aware this is intended behavior when setting the screen to shut off automatically.

In any case it has been doing this my side for quite a few firmware versions as far as I can recall.

Maybe @Naim.Marketing or someone else from Naim can confirm whether this is indeed intended functionality?

Maybe this is the expected behavior, it could be that the 3.6 was the wrong behavior and it was corrected.

And as I lived with this working behavior on covers of the streamer since I purchased a few months ago, I could have interpreted it as normal working state even if It was a bug of 3.5 and 3.6.

So your post made me think different as I am a recent Naim user, for me was not a bug lol.

Thanks,

Hi Marmaduke

Any news or responses from the Naim team on the display issue?
I got a reply to my initial ticket but since that did not solve the problem, now I have 2 tickets open …
If someone from the Naim team is watching this channel: would it be possible to attempt a re-installation of the last firmware? Maybe that could be more successful …

Cheers.

Bogdan, I can’t answer you query, but re. contacting support, did you see my earlier post here?

That’s indeed, the normal/intended behaviour when one has set the display to “Turn off during playback”

But I’d add a slight detail : this happens just once, after a reboot.
Then the screen stays black all the time. Even when changing albums, or between two listening sessions. Which is nice as the screen remains unpowered.

“We’ve got both an App update and firmware update in beta test right now - as soon as they’re available, i’ll let you know.”

Thanks! I hadn’t understood that @sonwleo’s screen is always off. Mine is on during playback … Sorry for confusion :man_facepalming:

Quick update Clare. Was downloaded and installed in 10 minutes. Both on 555 and Atom. All seems OK, But to be honest I had zero problems with the last version.

Thanks for the update. And yes, i’m sure the overwhelmingly majority of users have had no issues. We will continue to work to address the concerns of those whom have encountered problems, though!
