Football Season 2020 - 2021

Wow looking forward to the hi lights.

Another top performance from City today. I just hope we can retain Buendia and Cantwell after January.

An entertaining and high intensity game at St Mary’s this afternoon. Saints will be disappointed they didn’t get a point but they can draw comfort from a strong performance.

Oh, on a negative note, why oh why have Saints adopted that awful white diagonal slash on their home shirts? The red & white stripes have served the club well for as long as I have been following the game. Tradition matters.

£42 for “this season’s” home shirt… in other words, money.

And I totally agree…we should be in red & white stripes! I could accept the 135 year anniversary shirt (diagonal red slash on white) because that was an old Southampton St Mary’s strip (I’ve even got one), but this monstrosity…

BTW. nice to see “the old enemy” :), doing well even if the opposition “scored” both goals. Happened to Saints once: one game, we put the ball in the back of the net three times - problem was that two of them were in our net!

But the marketing $$$$$s matter more.

Congratulations to City, they edged it in a decent contest at St Mary’s today. If I am honest, they seemed to be a yard faster all over the pitch. Saints lacked that last little bit of creativity. But let’s be fair and look at the midfield and back four we were up against.

Another abysmal display by Arsenal. Pepe is fast becoming the most expensive flop in Premier League history.

There were some lovely goals today, but Palace should have had at least one and they played well for the best part of the first half. Bobby Firmino was outstanding today.

That was some game at United, very enjoyable.

Good game at Old Trafford, even though we got a thumping.

Oh well, we go again, as they say.

M.O.T.

All we need now is a snarly, sulky Jose, a players revolt and normal service resumed.
As a Gooner I’m prepared to take all the back banter that comment could cause because it’s absolutely worth it!

The Prem really is all over the place this season with Liverpool the only viable side at the moment.

Spurs were top just a moment ago. I blinked and they’re now 5th, below teams that are usually mid table. It’s great to see (not Spurs dropping to 5th) as it’s really tight up top. Christmas is going to be fun to watch.

Although Arsenal aren’t usually great over Christmas so could be in the bottom 3 by the new year!

What a complete shambles that was. What was I saying about the ‘…laughing stock of the Midlands’.

The only positive is that fans are watching it from the comfort of their sofa. Although saying that, a packed Hawthorns may have been a different story with the Hause booking.

Great start for Big Sam but at least Livermore gets Christmas off.

If Leicester could turn round their home results they’d be leading at this point. Liverpool are slowly clicking into gear but they are taking lots of risks and the Palce game could have gone either way until 0-3. City are in transition but are slowly rising. United have picked up results if rarely performances in the league whilst being disastrous in the cups. Everton also in transition. Spurs are up there but will do well to finish top four. Biggest disappointment for me has been Wolves. Lost players through sales and injury but I’d have expected them to have a few more points on the board by now.

The Man U v Leeds game certainly lived up to expectations. Very entertaining. Neither side’s defence looked secure ahead of the game and so it proved. While the score would suggest that Man U romped it, Leeds had many chances and could easily have scored more than two. A shame fans can’t witness their attacking style. I suppose the score and league position will ease some of the pressure on Ole but I feel that 3rd place in the PL rather flatters United to be honest.

Oh, and well done to Leicester who thoroughly deserved their victory over Spurs.

Spurs looked like they didn’t want the ball yesterday.

How lucky you all are worrying about winning the premier league.
As a club who have the three best young players outside the premier league in Aarons, Buendia and Cantwell I’m just worried if they’ll be with us after January.

Same issue at non-league but worse. Players won’t sign beyond two years.
