Charlie Gilmour left Norwich by what was described as mutual consent.
Shame he was such a great young player played for both England and Scotland at school boy level. I was there when he made his full debut for Arsenal against Qarabag in the Europa League coming on for Mesut Ozil.
His Dad told me Arsenal didn’t want him to leave and he had another year left on his contract but where not going to promote him to the first team squad that year and they felt he would be better leaving.
Unfortunately like Arsenal you are quite strong in those midfield positions I’m sure he will find another club though.
We are an embarrassment.
Literally like watching men vs. boys.
I know how you feel I felt the same against City less than two weeks ago.
A great win for the Arsenal tonight, 9 points from 3 games , 5 goals in 4 for Lacazette and another excellent match for Bukayo Saka but MOM and scorer of an incredible individual goal was KT the future Arsenal Captain.
Told you you’d like him! He’s Arsenal’s best signing in an age, and a great loss for my Bhoys.
Sadly, his Scotland appearances will be limited by playing in the same position as a certain Andy Robertson.
Good, you keep playing Robertson!
I’m hoping we’ll find a way to shoehorn them both into the team. Watch out, England.
Really positive all round and am glad Arteta has made the necessary changes to the squad.
Chuffed to see Laca getting some goals, especially while Auba is still finding his mojo.
The young lads are really impressing and injecting some energy to the team. I was getting fed up with the lack of forward play but fortunately they’ve shaken that off.
Great stuff today.
I think even though we have one of the better defensive records in the league we feel more solid with Pablo Mari in there and that strong platform at the back has been important let’s not forget we’ve only conceded a single goal in these last 3 wins it’s a shame he and Gabriel are both left footers because Arteta has a another big decision to make when we come back. KT and Hector of course must start.
The midfield is finally transitioning the ball quickly and instead of Xhaka going backwards or sideways he’s first thought is forward Ceballos too is greatly improved and let’s not forget we have Thomas Partey to come back into this midfield.
It seems crazy but at the moment you would have to say that Aubameyang should be on the bench rather than Martinelli another big, big decision for Arteta to make. Lacazette has to be first choice striker and of course Zaka must start and when you factor in Smith Rowe in that No10 role all of a sudden we’re looking like a decent side.
Mikel Arteta has some big, big choices to make as well as the ones mentioned he cannot start another Premier League game with Willian he does not fit into this team we made a mistake in signing him but let’s not compound that by keep playing him, squad player yes Premier League starting 11 no! David Luiz too is done, ok as a squad player for the rest of the season but again not a PL starter.
Finally the board have to sanction new players coming in this transfer window we need a creative midfielder Smith Rowe is a fantastic player who was always going to come through as strongly as he has but we need another. And now or in the summer we need a top class young defensive midfielder, a right sided centre back I know Holding is getting a new contract but I don’t see him as a long term solution in that position and finally we need a decent 2nd keeper and a new young striker in the squad because Nketia isn’t good enough.
Interesting conversation with an insider tonight. Players more settled now they know Ozil is on his way out
Same problem a few years ago with Danny McGrain and Sandy Jardine. The solution was to shift McGrain to right back. The best Scotland has at RB is Ryan Jack but it’s not his natural position. I’d switch one of the two left backs. Problem solved.
Blockquote
Though much has been made of it I think it has very little to do with the Ozil situation he’s just another player passed his prime they have had offers for him but he has refused to take a pay cut and go.
Arsenal’s terrible dip in form started along time ago improved slightly under Unai Emery for a while and then in September of 2019 dipped drastically culminating in his sacking it then improved ever, ever so slightly when Arteta came in and was masked by the FA Cup win but dipped ever more drastically until we played Chelsea last week when because of Covid 19 Arteta was forced to make some changes.
.
That form will again drop drastically unless
a. Arteta doesn’t put his big boy pants on and drop Willian and Luiz, Nketia and for his own good Aubameyang.
b. The board doesn’t back him in the transfer market by off loading all the deadwood including Mesut Ozil and buying some new younger players.
VAR again.
Have just got round to seeing Man U v The Villa, and the penalty. The video is clear - mu attacker tries to run past the defender and in doing so manages to make contact with the defender’s leg, which in turn deflects his foot onto the back of his own calf resulting in theatrical tumble >>> penalty. Apparently kicking a defender then tripping yourself over is now a penalty. Well I never…
Seriously, we regularly see the VAR taking an age to create lines to spy imaginary offsides in a desperate attempt to find a reason not to allow a goal. So why do officials seem to be desperate to award penalties for the most minor contact that not so long ago would have been laughed off as routine contact, and worse now legging yourself up is a) a penalty and b) not worthy of anything more than ‘yup that’ll do. Peep, point…’?
Will make an interesting next couple of weeks if Liverpool can’t get three points tonight. Liverpool v Man U on the horizon and Man U v Man City close after.
If Klipperty Klopp decides on Thiago, then perhaps Liverpool may find it easier to break down these stubborn defences. However, Southampton at home could mean a slightly more open game than West Brom and Newcastle.
I have a feeling that Southampton will get a draw at Anfield tonight.
Hmmm, Thiago in, Oxlaid Chamberlain in central midfield and Hendo at central defence…I wonder how ready the Ox is for a game like this?
Danny Ings against his old club, this could be a slippery one for a The Reds.
It’s at St Mary’s isn’t it?
Liverpool are being bossed in midfield and they can’t afford to carry Oxlade around this half. Replace him with Hendo and bring Nat Philips on in CD.
