Yeah from a dodgy pen ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
I think my cousin Terry’s comment would be “Normal service has been resumed at the top of the Prem”.
For all the furore at Lampard’s dismissal and Roman’s ruthlessness, recent results suggest it may have been a sensible move.
My one issue with Frank was his lack of any workable ‘Plan B’ in a game if plan A wasn’t working.
Looks like TT came with the full alphabet!
Realistically Lampard will do well to get a job above league one level.
Just a wee mention for The Mighty Whites, who quietly moved up to tenth last night.
Not getting carried away in the slightest, but we are doing rather better than anyone expected, with Marcelo’s vision of how football should be played.
And yon Raphinha? … e’s a bit good, innit.
M.O.T.
Totally agree. Young Bamford has found his feet at this level. Reminds of ‘Sniffer’ Clarke, but not quite at that level yet… M.O.T.
Bamford’s not so young now. 27 I think. He seems to have been on the fringe of being a PL striker for quite a few seasons now eg scoring plenty when playing on loan for clubs in the Championship but not delivering in the PL. Pleased to see he finally come good.
Leeds are really pleasing to watch this season.
If you’ve watched them a bit, then like many neutrals, as well as us Whites fans, it is such a change from the sterile style so often played elsewhere … and what about Raphinha … a bit special, don’t you think?
There’s a Twitter video clip from last night of his reverse spin nutmeg on Cahill … WHAT!!!?
All this “Liverpool are watching him” etc. … why on earth would he choose to join a club on the way down, when he’s already at one on the way up?
M.O.T.
The ‘young’ comment was a bit tongue in cheek…
Fair do’s, @fotobrooks. If Bamford goes on ‘Sniffer’ levels I think he and all Leeds fans would be very pleased.
As good as Leeds are to watch going forward they are in desperate need of a couple of defenders it’s February and they have a goal difference of zero 38 for and 38 against I believe.
A fantastic first season and a real chance of European football again I remember that Champions League Semi-Final against Valencia in 2001 a great Leeds side unfortunately went out but to an incredibly good Valencia side.
It should be a good match up on Sunday Leeds in 10th v Arsenal in 11th an all out attacking Leeds side against an Arsenal defence that have done a lot better this year.
I’m looking forward to it an am hoping for much more than the 0-0 earlier in the season.
We do have a couple of defenders (Robin Koch and Gaetano Berardi), but unfortunately they’ve both been out with long term injuries.
Not forgetting Llorente in midfield, who’s also gone missing.
@fotobrooks, once Berardi “the enforcer” is fit and available once more, many of our defensive woes will simply disappear.
Always a personal favourite of mine.
M.O.T.
Yes you do but I mean an experienced top draw defender and that is no disrespect to your current defenders. I know it’s not the best example because of the money involved but look what V V Dyke brought to Liverpool they too where a very high energy, high tempo, high pressing attacking side but like Leeds where a bit leaky in defence.
With the right investment Leeds are capable of establishing themselves as a permanent PL team capable of doing very, very well.
We tried with Ben White if you remember, but Brighton wouldn’t budge.
Yes I do and a great young player I remember you went all out to get him
Setting yourself up for Sunday’s game @Bobthebuilder?
You’re right, our defence is not the most secure, but I think that’s less to do with personnel, rather it’s our style of play, where we launch into all out attack, then rush back to plug holes as our opponents start a counter attack
Still, I think we’ll score more goals than you at the weekend.
M.O.T.
You may very well do so, we will just have to wait and see but I’m certain of one thing that game will be won by the team who defends better.
The most successful teams are built on solid defences and teams that rely on all out attack and scoring more goals than the opposition though entertaining rarely enjoy much success.
The Arsenal sides from the early Emirates era where very attack minded and would usually win by out scoring the opposition they where exciting and scored incredible goals but had no real success.
The team that Wenger enjoyed almost all of his success with was built on a solid defence he inherited Winterburn, Adams, Bould, Keown and Dixon. The Arsenal team of the early 90’s that won two Division 1 titles was a George Graham side built upon a solid defence.
Liverpool’s defence of their first Premier League title is crumbling because they lost their two main defenders and this years title will be won by the team with the best defence Manchester City.
Have to agree with that. A solid defence is key to long-term success. “One nil to the Arsenal”, as they used to say.
