Liverpool seem to think so, if rumours are to be believed.
It’s all just media speculation at the mo’, though I wouldn’t surprised to see Leeds adopt the strategy of “buy cheap / sell expensive” to fund squad improvement.
He cost in the region of 16/17m, and by the summer his value ought to be at least 2 to 3 times that investment, bearing in mind he’s on a four year contract at Leeds.
5-4 in extra time at Goodison in the Cup as I write.
This on the Beeb’s site, by text:
"Just got in from a late shift. Have I missed anything?
Steve K"
I always enjoy Klopps interviews after he has lost he suddenly loses the power to understand English.
Jose’s comments on Bale where quite astonishing to say that he’s post (probably not posted by himself and by he’s ‘people’) about having a good training session and being ready ‘contradicted reality’
Great first half from the Gunners should be four up though VAR joke again
I wonder now if there is a change in assessing a penalty call.
The two penalties, the one at WBA where it was ruled out and the one at Arsenal, might suggest that simply being touched is not enough to give a penalty now, this would be a sea change from what we have seen recently with VAR.
We have seen so many soft penalties given, more than in any time in history of the game I would surmise. Perhaps now they are using VAR, not to decide on what is a penalty, but as a tool to assess whether a penalty was a legitimate event or not. It’s been a very long time since we have seen the ref hand out a yellow card for feigning a foul in the box, since VAR they have simply be given, negating any responsibility for the ref to make a professional judgement call.
For me Saka went down too easily, likewise Maguire.
I think Klopp hates losing and simply finds it difficult to express himself after the game on top of that he has to be careful what he says and how he says it. He’s probably the one non native English speaker who can talk about football well, even better than many native speakers.
JOF I am guilty of a bit of leg pulling I’d not want the manager of my club to be any different losing should hurt.
I think you’re probably right but Ref’s and VAR need to be consistent now . I doubt there is football fan alive who wouldn’t welcome this change if that is what it is.
Players will eventually stop falling over like sacks of potatoes if there is nothing doing and who including fans, players, managers and ref’s wouldn’t welcome it.
I thought we played excellently tonight and IMO the pundits, reporters and fans are doing Leeds no favours by continually lauding their style of play as apart from Arteta’s strange decision again to bring on Willian and the woodwork Leeds would have lost by 5 or 6 goals.
As an Arsenal supporter I know better than anyone that purely trying to out score rarely brings success and if Marcelo Bielsa continues with that cavalier style through this season and into next I doubt he will be Leeds manager into 2022.
First season after leading Leeds to promotion, Leeds are safely mid-table at the moment. Two points behind Arsenal but with a game in hand.
Why on earth would Bielsa lose his job ?
The fans must love him. Dave Marshall, what d’you think ? …
Just back home after watching the game, and that was a strange one.
Our much lauded adventurous passing style was missing in the first half, as we reverted to hoofball, invariably giving possession straight back to The Gooners, who then poured through midfield in numbers as our defence stood off, with the inevitable outcome.
Changing what is becoming a settled backline and moving Struijk into midfield has been tried before, and doesn’t work, and moving Ayling to CB robs us of his attacking linkups with Raphinha.
The goalie had a nightmare, but wasn’t getting great protection in front of him, so he’s excused.
I didn’t think Arsenal were all that special tonight, but we didn’t half make it easy for them with, at times, some comic defending.
Marcelo got some of his choices wrong tonight, but he’s still responsible for getting us back into the PL, and his status as a Leeds legend remains intact.
We go again, as they say.
M.O.T.
The three players behind Aubameyang last night made the difference Smith-Rowe, Ødegaard and Saka played through Leeds for 45 minutes and it was game over.
Leeds where without their most influential player and it showed because apart from a 15 minute spell in the second half I felt we where dominant .
AARONS VALUED AT £30M-£35M, BAYERN TOLD
Norwich City have told Bayern Munich they will have to pay between £30m-£35m if they want to sign Max Aarons this summer.
Bayern have watched the 21-year old for two years and have now begun preliminary negotiations with Norwich via an intermediary.
Just reported on Sky Sports. I’d hate to lose Max as he’s been very loyal to City and should be in the full England squad. At the above price they’ll be getting him on the cheap.
Some big European games this week Liverpool take on RB Leipzig, Chelsea play Athletico Madrid and Man City v Mönchengladbach.
I don’t fancy Chelsea’s chances and on current form it could be a tricky match for Liverpool but Man City should progress. The pick of this round is got to be PSG v Barcelona tomorrow night.
On Thursday evening Europe’s Happy Shopper League kicks off early with Man U v Real Sociedad and Spurs v Wolfsburg both kicking off at 17.55 whilst The Gunners take on Benfica at 8pm all three are crucial matches especially for the two North London clubs with a CL place up for the winners of this competition.
I’ve a feeling Mikel Arteta may have been saving Thomas Partey and hopefully Kieran Tierney for this crucial match and not just because of the CL qualification but because it’s our only chance of success this season.
If he sticks with Aubameyang up front and the same three behind him then I’d be confident going forward and confident of a good result.
Funny! My brother sent me that one earlier poor old Spurs they do take some stick.
