That’s got to be the best course Dunc. Good luck.
I would go for the standard. What is the motor controller on it?
I don’t see options for the motor controller. I can only see different motor drive cables.
There is only 1 motor controller but 2 grades of armtube cable and 3 or 4 options for cables that run from the motor controller to the motor.
I think the better armtube cable is about £1k more but tricky to retrofit.
The motor control cables cover a range of prices.
Best to ask your dealer for the latest on cable options.
Best regards, BF
So you think the cable for the motor controller is so important?
First time I see that as an option.
I see only 3 contenders in the Vertere Mg1 price level.
Origine Live Sovereign
Avid Volver Sequel SME IV
VPI prime signature
The Avid would tempt me too !
When I bought ours, the standard was D-Fi. There were 3 optional ones: Pulse B, Pulse R and Pulse HB, in ascending order of price.
I think Pule B has been replaced by a new cable.

Just a last question: I think to understand that there is the redline phono cable inside the standard package.
Right?
I have no phono cable to buy?
The problem with the Vertere is that they don’t fit neat on the Fraim glass like the Xerxes and Linn. You can get round this by removing the glass.

Ian,
When I upgraded the PSU on my Roksan to a Vertere Touraj actually came over to fix it. His enthusiasm was as you say infectious, we sat there for ages listening to Jeff Beck!

Lindsay
No problem, my second rack is not a Fraimlite. A modified Lovan rack with finite elemente cerapucks between floor and base and 5cm granite base for the turntable. You can danse near it without perturbing the cartridge tracking.
Do you have Donald Fagen the Nightfly? It’s a 1982 recorded lp, digital.
But the sound is marvellous. I remember how well it was playing on my past SME.
I think, after thinking, that you made the good choice. Because the SME V / top Dynavector cart is a stunning combo. The gap between SME 20/2 and SME 20/3 should be not so big as vs 309/ cheaper cart.
And it’s always possible, in some years, to upgrade the motor and ps by SME.
Oh the Nightfly is a Digital is it? Never knew. Stunning record.
Yes, I always thought it was analogue. But the forum learned me otherwise.
Best sounding lps from the 80’s. Should interests Dunc. And others.
Whathifi list.
Not Everything but the girl mentioned. Should be added.
I dont have that record
But i did find out that the motor and power supply have been updated to the latest spec, as it was serviced 2 years ago and sme did all they could with it, it also has the latest spec arm cable, so in a way its a 20/ 2.5 and this is the reason i am finding it difficult to get my hands on it
What do you mean by “ difficult to get your hands on it”? I understood you want to keep the SME 20/2. So it’s should be fine, not?
The recent SME service is a good thing.
Doesn’t want to part with it, but i am twisting his arm well, as i know he wants a 30/2 with the longer V arm
Hi FR, the redline cable is the successor to Pulse B.
Looking at the website, this is the new standard output cable.
Best regards, BF
But is it included in the package if I buy the standard Vertere Mg1? Sorry to ask, but in France sites, it’s not clear.
I expect so, yes but ask Vertere or your dealer for the definitive answer.
