I owned the Harbeth SHL5+, now Marten. Too many rooms to cover and you haven’t reached the Marten room yet?
Had same experience with Harbeth. Not for me.
I love the Fink Team speakers. Karl-Heinz Fink has designed for Naim.
…. Indeed. Listening to a some Ovators here …
Ah didn’t know. He was part of developing Ovators you say?
There’s plenty on the web. One convenience link:
And let’s not forget the cost of the speakers - $180,000…
Hi Ryder,
If I may, who is JAY Audio?
Let’s remember that @BertBird is there for him, not us. I’m sure he makes his own selection and we should be grateful he is even willing to consider requests and puts so much effort into writing it up.
We’ll find out soon enough whether he visited your or mine (or both) requested rooms.
A quick google search will give you that info.
I just Qobuz’d those of Bert’s Shazam results shown within his excellent posts that looked of interest.
Not sure if Bert has a playlist or if there is an official Munich Show or specific exhibitors Playlist - maybe @BertBird can advise.
Thanks Richard, I checked and found out that this is not Martin Cullum…
Nr. 36 Part 3 Von Schweikert and VAC
Please keep in mind that I shazamed as much as possible, however quite often he played a very special version. If I know I will mention it, very often he had a version which was mind blowing….
It started with Sarah Vaughan with piercing vocals, very much into the voice and clear like intended.
Then to Supertramp…, was so familiar with this title and even at the beginning you wouldn’t suspect it to be Supertramp…., marvelous. The snare drum cuts through like nothing else. Asking myself given so in your face and direct sound if it would be tiring at the end…., after two hours I can say at the end not at all, you get fully emerged into the music and don’t want to go out…
Then Shostakovich 8th Symphony 3rd movement. Not sure the orchestra and conductor, but wow so lifelike and insane timing. The PRAT of Naim is children’s play compared to this.
Michael Petrucianni - great combination as well……, but I started to do the math in my mind. Yes this is the best sounding system ever, but most probably somewhere between 800K and 1M Euros, it should blow me away …… while honsestly not every 500K system blows me away like this and none come even close….
Nr. 36 Part 4 Vin Schweikert and VAC
OMG he put Rush on, and my mouth must have been open why listening, and my body started moving…., couldn’t help it, razor sharp timing and the full power of the song came accross. Never heard it so exiting. I played it later again on my own system and while I have a quite nice stack, my system can’t be even close to what this system is doing. The difference is while it brings accross absolute tonal accuracy, and the live of the music (emotionality) due to razorsharp timing these type of songs get another meaning.
Shirley Horn - bass very deep, with a precise voice on top.
From Avishai Cohen, it’s not the version from Gently Disturbed but apparently from an obscure album called An Evening Of Magic. I will try to get that one, while I haven’t been able to procure it yet. The band is getting completely into the groove, never have heard such rhythm in a song (and for those who search, no not on streaming service).
Part 6
Shelly Manne All Blues, Defintely something I want to acquire.
Bob Dylan, not so my artist, but it sounds good
David Bowie, sounds nice dark…
He Daft Punk, something which more of them are playing
I asked him to play some e.s.t. And as he only has a physical collection with him of things he combined together, I got the Live in Stockholm version of Bemsha Swing, triggered me to get also this DVD and rip it to my music server.
The high notes of the piano of Monthy Alexander are piercing, but at the same time don’t sound ugly or unbearable, just very present.
Part 7 -
Towards the end some stranger music came accross…, Peter Paul and Marie is not so my thing…
Part 8 - Last one Martial wanted to play for himself. What a ride with this system……, I had intended to see much more like the Darzheel Preamps, the strange turntable which has been published in this thread but I couldn’t get myself to leave this room. Needed to stay until the end, and wouldn’t mind sitting there for a day….
A fine Munich show came to an end for me, and as always much too less time, one needs at least four days to cover everything. I will still finish of by answering a couple of questions people have asked me in the thread in the coming days……
Looking forward to my next show visit, I guess in autumn again in Darmstadt…
