Iconic album covers. What’s your favourite?

The Melody Gardot album a few posts above is a recent one, otherwise you’re absolutely right.

Not mentioned before, so the title is true again :grinning:

Cannonball Adderley: Something’ Else, absolutely stunning every time I pull the record from the shelf.

Two utterly iconic covers for Kraftwerk – Autobahn (1974, UK version) and Trans-Europe Express (1977). Both brilliant. The Autobahn cover was a huge influence on the young Peter Saville, while TEE’s general aceness extends to the rear of the sleeve and the inner bag.

Talking of Peter Saville, this (Unknown Pleasures, Joy Division, 1979) is probably his most iconic work - minimalism at its best; it says so little yet is utterly descriptive of the music within. IMO it’s one of the three or four best album sleeves ever. Saville also understood the importance of materials - thus UP’s first pressings were printed on a very particular kind of textured cardboard, with a satin board inner bag:

It was similar when I bought Electric ladyland. I purchased 3 albums and sandwiched Hendrix in the middle, a bit like that famous Woody Allen sketch. Of course I was served by female .

My American friends can barely believe it when they see my British version of that! The naked women did not work for U.S. sensibilities. Hendrix apparently hated it too.

Surprised no one has included Blind Faith’s debut album. Very controversial at the time.

Tasteless and rather nasty - both then and now. Great music, no need for seedy soft porn.

Kiddie porn, at that.

I find this totally innocent but some folks here may think it’s inappropriate

Adult porn!? I consider this highly offensive as is the “music”. Talentless and overrated!

@anon71888798 We’ve been here before, but here we go again. Nevermind seems innocent to me too. But Blind Faith is, and always was, creepy. YMMV.

I know and I remember you saying each their own. :+1:

I’m on your side here I’m afraid that cover is completely inappropriate.

While there some great covers here I wouldn’t call them iconic, to me they need to be recognised by a large % of the population. Flicking through it seems this has been overlooked but imo fits the bill.
