Hope both channels work.
Didn’t think you’d be interested anyway !!
I’m not I think I’ve fallen out of love with those little black boxes.
Let’me know if you put them in the skip at your new build, I’ll make my way over…!
If I do I’ll give you a few days notice so you can get here.
Cost of flights these days I may need about a year….
Drive unless you have a EV
Lol. No EV for me, until such time there’s a proper JCW one and it can drive further than the local shops on a charge….
I’ve always fancied doing the drive though…
The train too – we were considering doing the Indian Pacific a few years back for our 10th anniversary, but Jesus, not cheap…!
Both would be great trips though….
I’ve got as far as Catus (Penong) in the Great Aus Bight, damn long way.
Wouldn’t warranty be covered by consumer law? If the business you bought from no longer trades, warranty should transfer to the manufacturer. If it does still trade, the business will have to fix it for you. Their relation (or lack of it) with the manufacturer would be their problem, not yours as I understand it.
Think you’re right I’ve resd A2A warranty and I don’t think it would stand up against our consumer laws.
Is it worth all of you in Aus/NZ, en masse formally contacting Naim direct and querying what is happening, given the announcement about Westan 3 months ago yet no mention of Naim on their website, and also expressing your concern about servicing of items bought from the previous distributor, whether direct or through a dealer, and your frustration and dismay at the lack of communication and apparent lack of interest from Naim themselves in UK.
Will get back to you both re the warranty aspects, busy just now….
I think everyone in this neck of the woods just have to be a little patient.
The new distributor Westan have a massive job on their hands re - establishing the Naim brand in Aus/NZ which frankly has been decimated by the previous distributor
This will take some time and hopefully 2024 will be a good year for Westan, dealers ( getting them back on board) and customers (new and old).
Bevo I’m sure dealers like Harry will still be there (thankfully) and things will settle down eventually but for me it’s probably put an end to any upgrade. If anything I now have a desire to downgrade.
Think it’s time to forget all this first world bs and just listen to the music while we still can.
Has it? I’ve been loosely following this thread out of interest, but I’m not convinced that the “fire sale” is as negative as some suggest, nor does it seem to be at all unreasonable on the part of the old distributor… The distributor, possibly finding itself with kit it had stocked up on to ensure a buffer against supply/shipping issues, then for whatever reason losing the contract, presumably decided it was best to cut losses and sell with a much lower profit margin than usual rather than be stuck when a new distributor becomes established. Selling at low prices is highly beneficial for purchasers. The only negative is a depressing of secondhand prices, but that is and has always been a risk as soon as a new replacements are announced, so not unprecedented, and where there is not a new replacement the secondhand depression will only be temporary until stock has gone. By selling that way there might now be a good number of new Naim owners, so in the long term there may be benefit from a stronger Naim presence. But what has struck me is the reported silence from Naim over a long period with at least some affected forum members voicing concern - at the end of the day, decent communication can make a huge difference in terms of consumer happiness. Just my personal view from afar.
I agree with most of what you’ve said. I guess the lack of communication and support here has been the most disappointing thing. There’s not many of us from this part of the world but we’ve been loyal and passionate and a few words from someone up top wouldn’t have gone astray. We’ve been left with rumours and gossip which really isn’t good for anyone.
I’m kind of with you Pete
Over the 2 places I frequent I have 16 pieces of Naim gear and 2 LP12 Sondeks
My longer term aim is to at a minimum half that amount or even less
If I eventually live in one place it will be less
As far as I can see Harry is the first dealer in Australia to recommit to the Naim brand , he’s a legend that boy
It’s all going to be driven by retail prices for the new range of Naim gear
Communication has never been their strong point, unfortunately.
You don’t know half the story mate !!
The lack of communication is not Naim , it’s from the parent company who control and are responsible at that level
Naim is a manufacturer of electronics full stop
