@IainO it sounds different I had it set to system automation since the system wax first installed, about 15 months ago. it sounds more natural with both improved PRAT and more natural highs. I’m glad I did it Hopefully this will eliminate the many system automation issues I was having including my P10 stopping while playing records or my CDP stopping It’s like listening to a new component it takes getting used to but overall I like it Thanks for your reply

Glad you like the improvement. My Naim takes 4-5 days full on to reach its potential so you may get a bit of a step up still to come…enjoy…and no more hassles!

My last engineering manager before I retired told me that the biggest problem in software development is “Naming things”. This tends to result in “Groupthink” naming sessions. Which in my experience results in cr*p names for things. 
You need a Robin Batman, to stick Memes to your own cheecky posts.. this is not a solicitation…
I suspect it’s marketing to sound greener and eco friendly, “instant on” implies a power saving mode whereas “always on” would have Greta Thunberg kicking your front door in.

You’re likely correct.
The real question is, “ would naim name it differently today”?
With the state of the planet it is incumbent on us all to save power wherever we can, and it’s irresponsible to keep things on when there is an effective standby mode. Naim also have a responsibility here; to make standby work as it should, make it foolproof to use, and make it easy to understand for all users. The fact that it’s taken so long for Naim to pick up on the fact that automation will put the system to sleep while playing records suggests that they have work to do in this area.

It’s now a requirement under the Ecodesign Regulations.
Devices must feature an automatic power management function that switches the equipment into standby, networked standby, or off mode automatically after a short period of inactivity (typically no more than 20 minutes unless the main function of the device prohibits it).
Standard standby mode must consume no more than 0.5 Watts (or up to 0.8W if displaying status/information). Networked standby (eg for streamers) allows slightly higher power draw (2W to 8W depending on the network availability) to stay ready for incoming play signals.
Although HiFi manufacturers are required to build and ship the equipment with this feature enabled by default to earn regulatory compliance - the CE or UKCA mark - many, like Naim, allow end-users to disable or adjust the auto-standby timer in the settings menu. This accommodates those of us who prefer keeping equipment warmed up.
@HungryHalibut Add to that a CDP. That stopped too. Also the circuit protection on my Isotek power unit, which rendered my whole system not functional Standby is a mess in my opinion. There is also the issue of how long we need to wait for a firmware update that corrects these issues.

So @HungryHalibut , my Atom HE is set to auto standby after 10 minutes, which is exactly what it does, automatically coming back on if I select Play on the remote or app….

Absolutely, it should just work, if not there’s an issue that should be resolved by the dealer or Naim themselves. Leaving stuff on 24/7 as a workaround is nonsense and a bit uncool in todays over heating world.
What if you have solar and battery storage? Or people who have contracts for renewably generated electricity? Sweeping statements like this ignore individual circumstances.
