Use which one you prefer. I prefer floating. We may be using different words to express same improvements.

Playing LP12 now. Much more fun and less stressful than being Mr Switch! Sounds better too!

Floating sounds different. Maybe a little more relaxed, I am trying it. I’ve always had this box switched to default.

Might be. NDX2 555PSDR were and I preferred NDS.

Yes - more relaxed. But it is only a workaround… it’s a bit more holographic but energy is missing and a bit darker also. Bass is better with default.
I am playing Prodigy Singles album on LP12 and it sounds incredible.
Why waste time on all this when LP12 Klimax sounds on fire?

Thinking Rossini. LP12 Urika 2 into Rossini. Possibly using Rossini as the preamp.
Get more powerful power amp.
Much as I love 500DR full system I would be interested in bigger power amp. And better streamer. Something 200 watts or over.
LP12 and speakers are all good.
All these firmware problems have made me seriously question what I have and what I want.
The 500DR system is great but has power limitations and streaming could be better elsewhere.
LP12 sounds superb. Really pleased with it.
Tbh whole system is epic. I am just looking at options.
This is not saying I am changing. Going to look around in the new year possibly. My health is main priority. None of this really matters in comparison.
But it’s a nice distraction. So all I am saying is see what is out there ! Nothing more.

Wow - you have got a plan!
I think nd555 is still very good, but I think there is a shift in sound spectrum towards the nc boxes.
All good - but sadly not my cup of tea. As rollback is no option (
) I need to think about alternatives

I’ve been listening to my ND555 quite a bit today; Qobuz and from my home library of cd and hi res quality albums. There is no “bad” in my vocabulary; I am extremely pleased with what I hear.

I may have a couple of things going on causing me a problem.
The new SQ signature may be ‘ok’ if I clear the other issue - which may be a damaged 555PS.
A few weeks ago when I did a Factory Reset I got a loud ‘crack’ through my system even though my Pre was muted, so something may have got damaged then - or not.
For a while after it seemed OK but with a poor FW version I had then perhaps I did not notice.
Then it got very bad with a Beta FW - then seemed to almost clear with the present release FW, so I was thinking it a threshold effect of the FW that I hear on ND555 2xPS S1-Active but is otherwise not bothering other people. I was hearing a HF whistle sound and distortion on HF voice and instruments, but I’ve not yet tracked-down if it is just my system and where that problem is.
Went to Dealer today and listened to his ND555 1xPS S1 passive system and it sounded fine - a bit brighter than the old FW two versions back but not the problem I had.
Dealer mentioned it could be a PS - so have to try that ahead, but my Burndies are frozed-on from not being touched in ten years!
Also borrowed an Innuos Pulse to bypass the Naim streamer circuit and use Digital 4 on the ND555 and apart from the Pulse interface causing me a lot of grief not recognising my local stored drives 95% of time it plays fine and has a SQ signature more to the balance I prefer.
The Naim internal version is more ‘with-it’ and brighter - but unlil I trace my HF fault it is hard to decide what is going on.

Could I also use my zenith as streamer and connect it to the nd555 as DAC.
But how to connect it - zenith is usb.
I now use a Pulse to feed a Chord DAVE, hard to describe how good the Pulse is as a transport, just delivers.

After that last few weeks I just want more options and control ahead.
Apart from clearing any specific faulty-item - which is just to me - I want to see what options can be made to work as alternatives.
The ND555 as a DAC with its suspended sub-chassis is among the best I have heard (at its best that is).
So when I clear my specific problem, assuming it is not FW-related as nobody else has this, I want an option for a more mellow natural balance for a lot of my music.
The live rock stuff seems fine with the present brighter signature but it does not work for me elsewhere.
It may be cable-tuning stuff again too - but if I have another option then I don’t feel trapped with something I don’t like and is not delivering if that happens again.
So just exploring what is possible right now with nothing too firmly decided.
