The Muso too…
And Moon Cakes
mmmm!
Yep, and if you ever saw one in a vertical climb you’d see why! Only ever saw one at an air show when I was a kid. down the runway on full bore, lifted off, and went straight up!
EE also built the Canberra bomber, Thunderbird SAM (I had an Airfix kit of one) and were developing one of the ballistic missiles of that era ( can’t remember which one, “Blue something-or-other”) until it was cancelled.
Another part of the company built early computers with the Lyons Tea Company (yes really!) and a third arm acquired the Marconi Company, and was itself in turn acquired by GEC at the end of the sixties - and I joined Marconi Space & Defence in 1975…
…and have only just managed to find the escape tunnel ![]()
… and if you ever saw a squadron in Four In Line Vic formation take off & vertical climb out …
… beyond awesome.
China make very good products, but not everywhere…
Huawai and Oppo are good examples.
Why not? Of course, “need to” is a variable description! Muso, iPhone, Many Canon camera models, and countless other things come from China, or contain Chinese components…
I bet some of their component parts were/are made in China!
A non permitted subject, but I’m sure you know why. I’ll be supporting local now.
They were renowned for that climb ability - and for a plane that first flew in the 1950s! The most impressive I ever saw at an airshow was the Vulcan - that in vertical or near vertical climb was simply awesome, in the literal sense of the word: and the sound quality!!!
Yes, probably. Even a Rolls Royce has for sure some chineese parts.
Perhaps not a Rolex…
Both of those are bloatware to my taste! Now if you said Ebel or, perhaps, Tesla… Tesla I’m sure will have some Chinese parts. No idea about Ebel.
From Rolls Royce site, they claim that 98% of components are from UK. But body seals from Thailand.
So no chineese parts if RR is honest…
What do you mean by bloatware? The translation says logiciel.
In this context, oversized, as in bloated, and overpriced as in bloated! Bloated is a word you use when you have eaten too much, or have excess gas produced in your stomach, producing an uncomfortably distended abdomen. Bloatware Is normally used in relation to software, where the meaning is much the same, over-large, full of unnecessary things etc. I just pinched the word.
Personal view of course.
I am not a fan of Rolls-Royce personally. But it has a long history reputation for entirely handcrafted car in UK.
Isn’t it?
Yes, and high precision engineering. These days RR is owned by BMW, so not so British anymore, though I have no idea about the components used. And of course, I guess, the electronics components are likely to include Chinese parts!
Didn’t know it’s owned by BMW…so my example is not good.
Is Rolex 100% made in Switzerland?
It’s much and much hard to find something 100% made in one country, in the high precision industry.
Switches we designed & built have no Chinese parts. Our clients would not have bought them if they did. That is one reason they’re expensive. Even so they are not 100% UK sourced parts - the FPGAs come from another country.
As long as you’re enjoying the music that is all that matters - no need to worry about where the bits come from.
I was just wondering, by curiosity…
But having bought some components from China, as e cigarette, drones…I am not prepared for now to buy more.
So in any case,.I have respect for, that people begin to think this is important,.where the products or components come from.
I agree with you,.considering what’s going on in our world right now.
But this is a subject for another thread…!!
Stay safe…
