Naim Chrome Bumper

Richard, it is not my thread, or my pictures…
I was simply seeing differences with my own NAC62 and highlighting, much as most other comments here are about systems and differences seen and heard…
In fact started by TimD as the excited new owner of a NAC62 who shared his pictures.

Definitely modified, looks like some extreme heat has been applied to that added earth bolt as the PCB has delaminated around it.

Regards
Neil.

Yes, I know.

Thanks Neil. Sorry Tim but as it has been 3rd party modified I have to remove the images and comments, as per forum policy. If you bought it under the impression that it was standard and unmodified you might wish to take matters up with the seller. Neil’s observations would certainly give cause for some concern here.

I’ve just had a thought, (dangerous I know)
could we have thread like the interconnects one,
Pictures of what’s inside a factory build.
especially CB/Olive as these seem to get modified the most,
Be good as a reference for us,
That way pictures of modified kit won’t show up on here accidentally
Thanks

Not quite what you asked for, but some good photos on that thread.

Plenty of inside shots on the interweb.

Yeah seen that one,
Just thought it be a good thread

It would be a good FAQ - similar to the interconnects one, and the WIP Burndy one. But likely a big ask of the moderation “team”?

Be a great resource to check purchases before committing (if interior shots of intended purchases were available).

At naim, they have one of everything that has ever been made by them for reference,
(I’ve read on here somewhere)
They probably don’t have time or staff for someone to round taking pictures and posting on here,
Was just a brain fart of an idea

I think it’s a good idea, and almost suggested that we ask Naim if they’d be willing to take shots of those reference boxes! Then thought it might be a source of information for people to copy, so thought better of it  But Naim staff have posted interior shots of current NC boxes on this forum. And interior shots used to be included on product information pages on their website, so I’m not sure Naim are overly sensitive about it!? Who knows.

As a buyer of a second hand box though, if there were pictures of known good examples available, that would be useful. As the recent context of this thread maybe shows

I can’t see Naim doing it but so long as our gear was serviced by Naim or Class A (and therefore must be kosher) then I reckon posters on this topic could quickly fill up a sticky thread with the necessary pics…

Nah, I’m not looking for other speakers at mo,

Been using a Lejonklou Slipsik 8 with my 12/160 for a few weeks. Initially, I was really pleased with the improved tunefulness and reduced distortion and listened to it as normal. However, as the weeks have gone by I’ve felt less and less ‘pull’ to put a record on in the office. And then the feeling that I should revert to 322 cards which I did this morning. Normal service resumed :). As much as I rate the Slipsik, it seems to be best to just let Naim amps do what they do best instead of trying to widen their abilities and meld them into something else.

Now listening to side 1 of Never a Dull Moment - proper rock 'n roll - superb!

What do you think about it ? Apparently it looks clean and correct overall.
My Linn dealer has a Nac62/250 CB in mint condition waiting for me. This one could be the icing on the cake

@rsch Looks good to me,
But I’m no expert and could be wrong,
I look at the wiring naim do like 45 degree angles
and as it’s coming from a good source,
Any problems you have your dealer :+1:

Of course!
My dealer at the moment had only one, owned by a customer of his portfolio, but he, for a good reason, discouraged me from taking this, being that in a pretty bad shape.

For the record he’s a Linn Naim specialist in Cremona since 1989
