Naim Chrome Bumper

Completely agree.

Iā€™m mostly into electronic music, though occasionally wander into rock, jazz, reggae, dub. And from 70s to current day. My CB setup replaced a XS3, prefer the CB in every way!

This doesnā€™t look standard - most likely modified (cable ties are wrong and the wiring too messy for Naim), in which case I may well have to remove the images in keeping with forum rules. Perhaps @NeilS can advise here?

Iā€™ve never used CB gear with an up to date source and speakers so thatā€™s good to hear.

I think a large part of this effect Iā€™m noticing is probably the speakers and drive units of each period.

Funny you ask, Iā€™m been experimenting with different types of music,
AnyThing acoustic sounds awesome,
Piano music is incredible especially when the low notes are played,
London philharmonic orchestra playing movie themes incredible,
Heavy rock with distorted guitars, not quite right, sounds like my speakers struggle at times,
All above streamed,
Anything vinyl just sounds better all round,
But I do miss heavy BASS, SBLs are incredible sounding, but just missing that very very low end,
But I have just moved things again now firing across the room giving more space for the sibs,

Richard, it is not my thread, or my picturesā€¦
I was simply seeing differences with my own NAC62 and highlighting, much as most other comments here are about systems and differences seen and heardā€¦
In fact started by TimD as the excited new owner of a NAC62 who shared his pictures.

Definitely modified, looks like some extreme heat has been applied to that added earth bolt as the PCB has delaminated around it.

Regards
Neil.

Yes, I know.

Thanks Neil. Sorry Tim but as it has been 3rd party modified I have to remove the images and comments, as per forum policy. If you bought it under the impression that it was standard and unmodified you might wish to take matters up with the seller. Neilā€™s observations would certainly give cause for some concern here.

Iā€™ve just had a thought, (dangerous I know)
could we have thread like the interconnects one,
Pictures of whatā€™s inside a factory build.
especially CB/Olive as these seem to get modified the most,
Be good as a reference for us,
That way pictures of modified kit wonā€™t show up on here accidentally
Thanks

Not quite what you asked for, but some good photos on that thread.

Plenty of inside shots on the interweb.

Yeah seen that one,
Just thought it be a good thread

It would be a good FAQ - similar to the interconnects one, and the WIP Burndy one. But likely a big ask of the moderation ā€œteamā€?

Be a great resource to check purchases before committing (if interior shots of intended purchases were available).

At naim, they have one of everything that has ever been made by them for reference,
(Iā€™ve read on here somewhere)
They probably donā€™t have time or staff for someone to round taking pictures and posting on here,
Was just a brain fart of an idea

I think itā€™s a good idea, and almost suggested that we ask Naim if theyā€™d be willing to take shots of those reference boxes! Then thought it might be a source of information for people to copy, so thought better of it  But Naim staff have posted interior shots of current NC boxes on this forum. And interior shots used to be included on product information pages on their website, so Iā€™m not sure Naim are overly sensitive about it!? Who knows.

As a buyer of a second hand box though, if there were pictures of known good examples available, that would be useful. As the recent context of this thread maybe shows

I canā€™t see Naim doing it but so long as our gear was serviced by Naim or Class A (and therefore must be kosher) then I reckon posters on this topic could quickly fill up a sticky thread with the necessary picsā€¦
