Exactly.
I kind of expect it with CB Nait 2s but Ā£900 for a mint Nait 1 seems potty. I have an extra nap 110 I donāt need and was gonna sell but whatās the point when I donāt need the cash right now and it will earn way more than the bank over 12 months.
And yet at the same time, a mint pair of SBLs and new gasket set can be had for 600 quid which is probably a tenth of what it would cost for a new speaker of similar quality.
I had some Iotas and the Nait 2 didnāt make them sing, they needed more grunt (84dB/1W). Even in the office system so close listening. Passed them on to my daughter who had an old ARCAM Delta 60 that I had also bought for her (and the Manticore Mantra and the ARCAM Delta 70 CDPā¦)
Better options out there. I had some Spendor S3/5R2s which I sold in a moment of madness. Now have Acoustic Energy AE100s which are fantastic speakers for Ā£200.
Ah ok - thatās useful info
Hand sanded Olive 52PS that has been converted to a Supercap for the 32.5, I have 11 CB boxes in the home Cinema system and tree āWBā subs amps (wooden Bumper )
Nice! What did you do about the olive fascia on the 52PS? You can get replacement green lamp covers on eBayā¦
Yes Good idea, I am upgrading the internals of my Panasonic 9000 BR player, I have a decent LPS fitted and about to do more upgrades. I keep wondering if I might be able to get it modified to have 4 SPDF digital outs then run 4 naim DACs with 4 Olive supercars sanded
Lovely
Congratulations - I wondered if someone from the forum would buy that little Nait. It looked like a very well cared for example. I highly recommend a service if its never been done - well worth it.
Which speakers do you intend to pair it with?
Thanks, I was lucky with the second chance offer.
On speakers, as I intend to use the Nait in my office, need something small, discreet and can be placed very closed to the wall. I have the Guru Junior and Proac Tab 10s on my short list. Anything else I should try?
I would think Gurus will be the perfect match, and are on my list to try at some point as well.
Not sure as to what modern speakers would match without trying them, although I notice you have Kudos Titans. As crazy as it may sound, it may be worth trying them with your Nait2. I was chatting to Davie White of Kudos at one of the shows (before the world fell off cliff) and heād been using his development Titan 505s with his own olive Nait2 to great effect, his observations of course.
I had both the Tab 10s and Guru Jrs. When I moved my CB Nait 2 into the main system a month ago I tried both sets of speakers (I was running the Tabs with my 32.5/non- Naim PS/110 to see which speakers were going to stays the time). The Tabs needed a bit more grunt (sensitivity: Tabs 86dB, Jrs 87dB) to get them going with the Nait and pre/power whereas the Jrs were effortless. The Jrs stayed. I have had them for about 6 years now. I sold the 32.5/110 recently.
If you are only going to be listening near field then maybe the Tabs will be fine. I had some Spendor S3/5R2s in the office which were great but I stupidly sold. The new Spendor 4/5 look interesting. I have some Acoustic Energy AE 100s in the office now and Iām rather impressed with them for Ā£200. As I am working in there I donāt concentrate on listening so figured I didnāt need to spend silly money on speakers.
The Guru Jrs are fantastic but might be difficult to get hold of (out of stock at Guru direct but you might be lucky and find a dealer that has a set - TomTom for example 2ndhand).
I actually tried a Nait 2 Olive into my Kudos 606 - works very well. I still prefer my 72/HC/140 combination, but the Nait 2 was very very musical.
I was actually hoping to order these white Guru Juniors from their websiteā¦i guess the Proacs will do!
Depending on space the Guru Q10s are available (in the Archives section) at a similar price.
Iām a sucker for looks, the Q10 never looked right to meā¦
Try TomTom? Or Robert Taussig in London?
I think theyāre one of the best looking speakers around. Much nicer than the more expensive model.
Why are they not taking new orders again.
