Naim & Focal 10th Anniversary Edition

In a shop? Naim dealer?

It was a high end hifi shop judging by the looks of it - it was closed anyway i just happened to pass by.

Strange, so I guess they didn’t paint it. Or maybe they did

Maybe some prototype. But white hi-fi is like white jeans and white cars - it only works in some very rare cases

Woaah. I was so sure the horrible grey version was just an aprils fool. It’s for real then?!

Welcome to the party @Blackbird . Let me summarise for you.

  • Yes it’s real.
  • Some people hate it
  • Some people like it.
  • Some people think it is the absolute end of the bloody world.
  • Some of us have moved on.

Good one!

Yours truly to an extent but I think I’m more in the category “God help Naim.”

Feelings will settle some.

I’d like to keep an open mind. Time will tell, as it moves on.

You’ve missed some. But it’s ok.

One can wonder if this push is consumer driven or management driven.

Let’s keep nationalism out of the discussion. Thanks.

Haha, that’s excellent! I think you should be given the job of NAIM’s “thread summariser”, summarising threads after every 100 posts, or so. You could save so many hours of so many peoples lives!

Perhaps he could summarise the ‘Cables’ thread, followed by the ‘Is digital just zeroes and ones?’ and finish off with the ‘If there is no evidence am I just imagining a difference in sound?’ threads.

That’s not a thread. That’s a culture war. I’ve not touched that thread and I wouldn’t with a 10 foot barge pole.

My current go to album ….

Indeed - tongue v much in cheek

With Naim investing in hardware to offer different colours than black,
I’m quite convinced Naim will offer any choice of cabinet color by order.

Could be white, gold, green maybe even rainbow. :sunglasses:

Yeah, but would that be a pine barge pole or an oak one? Some say that larch is best, but they are imagining the difference. There are a few really expensive barge poles made of ironwood or rosewood, but these impart rather a heavy touch, I find.

Not the time to be buying timber. Have you seen the prices!

Yes, I know. I am intending to make a replacement window - actually, I had intended to make it last year, but couldn’t get the timber. Not sure how much it will cost this year.

I have to admit I like the grey version, reminds me of this iconic Braun system:
