Naim Fraim - is it worth it really?

Thank you Bevo, that’s a good idea.

What boxes are you putting on the Fraim/FraimLite, and the Simrak? Which, by the way, looks impressive.

Not so cream crackered really as pretty much anything can be serviced and repaired by Naim Audio. Besides, what do people do with a PS? They take it out of the box, put it on a shelf, plug it in and switch it on. They might switch it off for a passing thunderstorm or when they go on holiday, but that’s it really. Power supplies don’t tend to get trashed. I’m beginning to wonder why I bought new myself now!

If you were to buy from an auction site and weren’t too comfortable about it, you could always check that you could pay cash and collect it yourself. You might even be able to have a demo before you buy. You could also check you’re comfortable with the way the seller handles the equipment. Another thing would be to check the service history with Naim Audio.

And I’m certain the 555PS will elevate the NDX2 to a much higher level than the XPS.

You should also consider Townshend Podiums for your speakers. Several members here report better results than the Gaias. I did not compare, but the Podiums were the best upgrade I made for a couple of years, until a month ago, when I splurged for the Towshend F1 Fractal XLR interconnects for my Meridian Ultra Dac to Krell Power amp.

Sorry if not clear. I will have just the Simrak - dealer assures me it is better than Fraimlite but not quite as good as a Fraim. I suspect anything will be an improvement on my ancient Soundstyle tripod.

That’s a valid point Clive :+1:

I say this with tongue in cheek, but I’ve seen some photos on ‘System Pics’, where people allow their cat to sleep on the black boxes. Obviously because it’s a nice warm place.

I don’t do cat hair. Not meant to offend anyone.

Please let us know how you get on with the Simrak.

I’ve seen Simrak at Cymbiosis. I’ve not made a comparison as I already have Naim Fraim, but irrespective of how it sounds, I reckon it has much better WAF than Fraim.

Correct PW42 - Simrak sits between Fraim and Fraimlite re SQ, but by how much over the fraimlite who knows

I just happen to love the look of the Fraim/fraimlite

Evolutionary biologists are never afraid to venture into the beyond that exists outside their specialism I believe…

When I was looking at Fraim v Simrak, my wife greatly preferred ( to my relief, as that was what I wanted) Fraim.

Surprised that this thread automatically closed due to inactivity… Surely there are more than 1254 things to say about the Fraim?!? :joy:

Lazy post from me I’m afraid - but only because dealers generally enjoy a well earned day off on Monday (I imagine they just listen to music though :relaxed:) but after some help…

I need to reconfigure my Fraim a bit to accommodate the impending Solstice. Does anybody know if I can buy “long legs” and “short legs” to replace my two pairs of mediums? …prohibitively expensive?

Yes you can, available to order via your dealer……i cannot remember the price i paid for medium legs……but not too bad in the Naim scheme of things.
