Naim Internet Radio - Feedback & Requests - Part 20

A repeat of the opening post from Part 1:

At Naim, we understand that while many people use our products to get the best listening experience from their own music collection; sometimes you simply want to put the radio on and let someone else choose. We’ve offered a comprehensive internet radio solution for some time, and we are now delighted to announce the launch of our own in-house internet radio solution.

In a collaboration between XPeri and our team here at Naim, we have brought the internet radio server in-house to be maintained internally, as opposed to relying on a third party as with the previous server. This will improve reliability and has opened up a host of improvements to the service, detailed below:

- A selection of over 45,000 stations worldwide
- Advanced metadata feeds for artist, track and album info on many stations
- Focus on high-quality audio streams
- Improved station categorisation
- High-resolution station artwork
- Automated station scanning
- Station podcasts (where available)

The Focal & Naim app will identify any favourites and presets that should be resaved to use the new server.

These updates are not only improving the internet radio server but improving our streaming capabilities too. TIDAL’s new 24-bit, 192 kHz streaming tier, TIDAL Max, is now available through both the Focal & Naim app and TIDAL Connect.

In a significant update for our Chinese customers, Q-Play is now supported in Naim products. QQ Music is one of the largest music streaming services in China, and users are now able to select their Naim streamer from within the QQ Music app for a seamless listening experience.

Regards,
Naim Audio – Software team

With the launch of Naim’s new Internet Radio service (see above), I’ve created this dedicated thread where information can be posted relating to the service and members can post feedback and requests for the team at HQ.

Examples of how this thread can be used;

  • Announcements on key new stations / station rebrands etc. For example recently a big change in UK for Bauer Media and Global. Scala radio rebrands to Magic Classical and about 16 other new or existing stations changing.
  • request stations that we don’t have.
  • issues with a station. Eg, wrong meta / won’t play and so on.
  • notifications of any downtime on either our system in a given region, or a dependent system like the xperi live radio meta.
  • Search issues. We have the station but its hard to find as needs more tags.
  • feature requests / feedback / general radio gossip

Please ensure posts here are ONLY feedback re. the new Naim radio service or station requests. Thanks.

The latest June Update can be read here:

Hi @Kurt

We noticed that the radio proxy that you run is not working for Naim Radio. Example:

Hi all,

Deepvives Radio, UK

Their stream + website went offline around 18:00 UK time on Sunday 14th June. Currently it is still down but there is nothing that Naim can do about it.

We’ll keep an eye on things, but we know this station is listened to by quite a few customers so worth a mention that it has issues.

Hello,

I recently noticed that Naim Radio does not include ERR Raadio 2 (Estonia) in its station list (https://icecast.err.ee/raadio2.mp3). You do have several sister stations from this Estonian broadcaster, but the main broadcast stream is missing.

Could you please add it or fix the current ERR Raadio 2 entry? At the moment, it is misleading, as it does not play the main broadcast available at https://icecast.err.ee/raadio2.mp3.

Station website: https://r2.err.ee

Thank you in advance!

Hi @eriik.

I believe it’s this one. It’s already in the sytem.

If it’s not this one, let us know a few more details (eg. their webpage) and we’ll adjust things accordingly.

Best wishes

Steve

Hi Stevesky!
Maybe my previous explanation was a bit confusing. Raadio 2 has many internet stations, but the main station is not currently playing on Naim Radio. When I press play on their website (https://r2.err.ee/), I can listen to the main station, but I can’t access it from my Mu-so. Naim Internet Radio plays a different Raadio 2 station—not the main public station that is streamed live on their website. Before the Naim radio update, it played the correct station, but now it seems to be playing one of their so-called sister stations (they have many) instead.

Hi @eriik

Thanks for the extra info. Try again as hopefully all sorted now.

A post was split to a new topic: Unitilite iRadio Issue

Hi all,

RE: SRF, Switzerland

We recently upgraded the radio system to take on their newer radio feeds that are at approximately 200kbit/sec AAC in HLS container. A good upgrade from 96kbit.

You will need to retune from the directory to get the new feeds, as the older lefacy feeds are there for the green screen streamers and muso gen 1 that can’t support these newer streams properly.

The metadata feeds we’re still working on, so apologies for our engineering dust.

best wishes

Forgot to say:

As an added bonus all the Radio Swiss have also got upgraded streams to 200kbit AAC/HLS. Example:

Sound quite nice :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hi Steve,

It seems Radio Seefunk channel is no longer running/working. All the substations (70s, 80s, 90s, etc.) seem to work but not their main channel, if this could be looked at I would really appreciate.

Himall,

Re: Deepvibes Radio - as of 20:00 on 25th June it started working again.

@Stevesky Feature request.

WHAT

When playing radio say Jazzgroove I’d like to get meta data links that when I tap the link open up the track in the streaming service used say Qobuz.

WHY

Because it in a fast and easy way build my favourite catalogue of albums/track without me having to do a print screen, open the picture, write the text manually and find the track/album.

(Roon do this. It’s a great feature.)

Please confirm if this channel is still working as it doesn’t on my uniti atom?

Hi Marcus,

Now fixed. Seems they have split their network into two feeds and broke the existing URL in the process.
