I can see why you would be attracted to it and I agree with the sentiment. I think one of the best things about the UK is the very diverse population. When I used to commute to London every day, I would occasionally think that in the underground carriage no-one other than me was a white middle-aged male, and I liked that.

But it could be quite provocative in a window in the leafy part of Emsworth?

In UK and in every part of the world who embrace multi culture/ etnic costumes. Diversity is less … boring. In every sense.

A print by Bob Barker, called “We Go Together Like a Wish and a Smile”.

We met him at an art gallery where he was promoting his work and had a long chat about his techniques and use of family as models. The red umbrellas and held hands forming a heart shape are a feature in many of his paintings

The picture has spent a few years hiding in a spare bedroom, but when we have finished decorating the living room, it will be going in there, possibly above the hifi. I guess that will be up to Mrs G though.

We have quite a few paintings by my father in the house. This is the best by a very long way and reminds me of boyhood walks in our local park.

Most of his paintings that we have are watercolour and rather less impressive

This was my favourite for many years before he gave it to me - the perspective is annoying but otherwise I look at it and wish I could paint as well (might be able to if I practised enough). Happy childhood memories again

That’s lovely. My dad, recently passed sadly, was a park warden so that rings some bells with me too.

He made my wife pay for this one as a birthday pressie for me (annoyed my brother who had wanted it for himself - he used to live near here). He was an architect and spent time in retirement doing some drawing and painting but selling very few

We brought this back from Bali a few years ago I framed. I’m not a huge fan but it hangs proudly in a stair well.

You sure about that Lucifer? I like these paintings. No ‘training’ needed. :+1:t5:

Did you hang it in the window? Can understand you not wanting to rock the boat though sometimes you have to ask if you’re in the right boat to begin with.

In the end I decided against it, but at least the purchase price goes to two good causes, which is what matters. That’s wholly positive, and with many of our neighbours - most of whom are around 80 - struggling with the lockdown it’s simply not worth potentially creating waves.

Can understand. You have to live with your neighbours long after you’ve made your point which you’ve done with the purchase of the print anyway.

Cheers, Rack. :+1:t5:

I don’t think any of the above is the intention.

Thank you @RackKit

Thanks for sharing those JOF.

This patchwork of fabrics from Nepal hangs behind my listening area.

Scraps of a life of mountain adventures that is long gone.
