You are using the Atom , right ?
With the new streamers there is really no meaningful difference between FLAC files on your subnet or on the internet.
The older streamers had less transport layer decoupling so SQ differences were more apparentā¦ and that could be remedied with a protocol break/proxy.
I do decouple my transport from my DAC which might have removed any residual differencesā¦
If I am really critical I can hear a difference between UPnP and Roon RAAT on the new streamers with UPnP sounding slightly preferable ā¦ I will investigate further, but I suspect with UPnP and web streaming the new architecture spools the file rapidly and gives a SQ lift by design, but with RAAT I do believe itās streamed more like the legacy architecture in continuous bursts (assuming sufficient bandwidth) but I need to validate this.
I just summarized what I read on different threads since 2 days: tidal vs Qobuz, native Qobuz, is the Qobuz updateā¦
The differences between streaming integrated Qobuz vs local files is little or even minimal with the new streamers but for now I identified more persons saying that local streaming files has still a little edge.
Yes FR, I suspect that is true, as like for like, and even 16 bit rip local streams, can outperform 24 bit Qobuz streams in my system.
I guess my dilemma is the attraction of 24 bit Qobuz streams (for those albums I do not own on CD) vs a possible shortfall in the Qobuz catalogue.
I will need to investigate the Qobuz catalogue and Qobuz SQ further before I make a decision on whether to replace Tidal with hi res Qobuz.
Personally I would not be able to sell my Melco and stream only Qobuz hirez, if I had a new streamer : because the Qobuz catalog is lacking too many albums I like.
As for Tidal I use it very rarely, subscribing 2 months per year. The sound is not on the level to my local streaming.
Personally I could never rely on any subscription streaming service as my internet connection is too flakey. There would simply be too many drop-outs to ensure a continuous listening session every time.
I will only use Tidal or Qobuz for discovery and to listen to albums I like but not enough to own. This will be the case until I get a robust internet connection with no (or very rare) drop-outs.
I got four months of TIDAL for $5. I have found some, but not much music I like to play that isnāt on Qobuz. I will definitely cancel TIDAL when the promotion comes to an end, and continue my Qobuz and Roon subscriptions. Not to mention, the whole MQA thing turns me off.

I have a nice reissue of this already. The MoFi One-Step are all $125 + shipping. Normally, I say thatās above my threshold of pain for purchasing a record. However, I did make one exception and pre-ordered the MoFi One-step of Mingus āAh Um.ā Otherwise, Iām not on board with the various super vinyl reissues and donāt buy them. Iām OK with the quality and cost of the standard MoFi reissues. The recent Dire Straits 45s, for example, are excellent.
I just found it recently and remembered you were listening a lot Monk. So copied the link for you.
I would not, like you, buy a lot of these stratospheric prices lps. Perhaps only if the album is among my top favorites.
Thank you for thinking of me. I do like Monk very much and have a rather large part of his catalog.
I have a very nice Impex reissue of Monkās Dream. Iām happy to stand pat with that.
I had no problem installing the update Monday. Only the app was unstable until its own update yesterday.
The Qobuz SQ goes beyond all expectations. Focus and transparence, resolution and refinement (the touch of notes and their dampers on Debargueās play in its recent Scarlatti) are all here. Timbers also are beautiful and timing excellent. Thank you Naim!
Chag -
Same here with the NDX 2 and an Atom. Qobuz the perfect partnership for me.
Iām still getting the logging out issue - has there been any update on this?
I have still problems, too!
Naim are looking into it they know there is an issue. They have been very good and taken loads of information and I am awaiting a reply. Iāll update as soon as I hear anything.
Thanks, Odd it dident show up in Beta testing
The number of beta testers is relatively few, so unfortunately things will slip through.
Apart from the fact that I have to log in to Qobuz again and again when I open the app, I have a question: how can I sort the favorites of Tidal and Qobuz in the Naim app in a sensible way?
I would be grateful for your help.
Best Regards
Lopez
Thereās a setting to display favourites on the home page, along with UPnP playlists and saved radio stations. Itās basic, but you might find it useful.
