a better fuse on a network switch?
It’s a linear ps.
Can I use a Sean Jacobs dc3 with ee8?
There is one offered - dual mode 12v and 5v.
How good is it?
The one I found might be a bit „tweaked“. Don’t know, if it is standard, that it has switchable outputs… offer says custom design.
All I read so far ist fine - full bass is what I really want most!!!
Sean happily provides custom solutions. If the specs match you should be fine. I’ve used my DC3+ with EtherRegen and Roon Nucleus+ and got a good uplift with both. I’ve never had an EE, though.
PS Bass improved with both, in addition to other aspects (soundstage, detail, texture, articulation), but that doesn’t mean that the EE will behave in the same way.
Wait Michael response. It can apparently power two items, like your router and the EE8.
Thanks for your help, both of you,
Really tempting, but a bit of a risk, as there is no return option.
Was a bit triggered by some thread in www where someone mentioned, that bass lifted up like 6db
Maybe I try silent angel as I can order it new with return option…
Or farrad!
you can return easily the Farad. I had it before.
Yes - I know,
what was wrong with Farad?
Farad is my no1, because it is so tiny and fits better in the TV rack, where the switch is located
@Blackbird
Can you remember the update effect of adding the farad super 3?
In my interest is mostly the bass weight… (SBL in big room
I believe I wrote some notes on here somewhere but mainly I remember it as better definition/separation and a more relaxed flow of music. I read a lot about it before trial and as I remember it what others wrote was what I also heard. I updated from ifi powerx. I believe a contribution to better sound was also to remove the SMPS from the mains block and use LPS instead. I’ve heard from people I trust with long naim experience that SMPS on the same grid with Naim is a big no no.
Sorry - what’s SMPS?
Switched mode power supply and Linear power supply.
In my system I preferred the top MCRU, I had them both on trial. Only my preference. The MCRU gave nicer tones and was more organic.
Today I have the PhoenixNet. My switch was the Etheregen, not the EE8 at that time.
DAMN… What was that - again.
Had a bit of a shocking moment with ND555. Second time, that he did this all of a sudden.
It suddenly startet stuttering… When done so today, nothing reacted. App control was down on both iPad and phone - remote was not working.
Even stop at the unit was not working. Power down at the unit (not 555PS) and up brought it back immediately and it worked fine again.
To be honest - I am worried
Done all I can…
- switched off all (router, switch and nd555)
- started router
- started switch
- factory reset of nd555 (strangely the playlists don’t were deleted - but anything else).
- reset of naim app.
I never had this with nd5xs2…
Think it must be the nd555 as when it happened it also is non responding to remote and front buttons except power off.
When it came back it even resumed playing with stutter song.
Please let it not happen again
By the way… no reboot done. Only stutter and non reactive… but back when standby off / on.
I think it is also software related, or?
Nothing to worry, albeit it happens very often. Sometimes the app doesn’t work. Just restart your router, wait, then restart the Nd555. And also the app to delete and install again.
If it happens once or twice a month, it’s not a problem.
But it is software related, or not?
Don’t want to worry about hardware
App and remote did not work and display had also behaved strangely - stuttered also… it hung up
