New ATC’s 19’s Have Arrived!

I’ve got a nice Moorcroft lamp that I’m trying to position correctly with the 19’s

I think I’ve got the solution sorted now so we can still enjoy the Moorcroft as well as the 19’s on their new stands

@ninanina - well we’re all looking forward to seeing a pic or two!! I’m sure you will love them.

We are hoping to unbox the 19’s this evening and hoping that they don’t sound awful out of the box

Once they are in place I’ll let you all know how they sound

Exiting times….enjoy. And let your brain out of order, just feel, listen, and relax.
Don’t overthink. The only thing to adjust, step by step, is speakers position.

I’m a couple of months in with my new tower 20s (passive), out the box they sounded very impressive, excellent in fact.

Since then they have really opened up, I almost forgot the 20s are in the room they just disappear.

After 24+ hours without any music there’s progress

The amp needs to come back on song, the NACA5 still needs burning in as it’s still pretty new and, of course, the ATC’s need a good run in…. so quite a lot of variables

The 19’s were unboxed last night and placed on their lovely new stands and they sound amazing

I know that they will need some running in time but so far so good…. not awful in any way… just the sound myself and my partner missed over the last 24+ hours

Also found a lovely spot for the Moorcroft lamp to the right on its own stand. I’m just going to buy a low wattage led bulb for it so you can see the design on it rather than just a bright light

What stands are you using?

Custom Design FS 104 XL stands MikeD

I’m missing a couple of bags of the inert filler which my dealer is getting in for me

The demo stands I had with the demo 19’s were the standard FS 104’s but properly filled with the correct amount of filler and they sounded wonderful… quite heavy though!

The new FS 104 XL’s I have the new 19’s on sound great but possibly a little extra filler will help them further

We haven’t even fitted the spikes to the stands as yet as we wanted to get the speakers in the correct position first before fitting the spikes as it’s so much easier to move stands without spikes. I’m absolutely sure that once we get them in the correct position that spikes will just add a little bit extra to the sound of the 19’s

Sounds like it is going well

It might be an idea to let everything settle for a while and the speakers and A5 to come on song before adjusting the filler in the stands. Changing too much at once can get confusing. A couple of weeks of regular use should do it in my experience.

Thanks Bruce

We are certainly going to let everything settle for a little while before doing anything to the setup

I’m just so happy that the 19’s sound so lovely straight out of their boxes as I feared they’d sound awful compared to the demo pair we had but absolutely not as the new 19’s are sounding wonderful

My 11’s were fine from new. Yes they sounded a little bit ‘tight’ but not enough to have me doubting my choice!

Bruce

Totally agree with you Bruce

The 19’s sound wonderful straight out of their boxes but I’m also sure they will loosen up a bit over the coming hours/weeks

Listening to my music right now and the 19’s are sounding gorgeous

It’s not a great picture but it is what it is

The Moorcroft lamp looks much better in real life

The grills are also on the 19’s at the moment and we will be putting the 19’s further apart eventually

You wouldn’t believe what I’m listening to right now……

Please excuse the boxes… stands & speakers etc

Some will also know that we’ve only recently moved into this detached house so please excuse the decor….. hifi/music is much more important to both of us than the decor…that will be changed at some point…. We both love our music too much…. Luckily my partner knows what I’m talking about when we are talking about hifi and getting the most out of our music so he’s kinda just left me with it…. and he’s absolutely amazed with what we’ve ended up with. Bless him a? I love him to bits

Out of interest, what was the reason you chose those stands?

Well MD… the demo 19’s came with FS104’s fully loaded with their weights and I couldn’t fault them with the 19’s on them

I ordered FS 104 XL’s as the XL’s have a larger top plate more suited to the huge 19’s. The 19’s fit much better on the XL’s top plate

I’ve currently got about half the weight in the stands that they really need but my dealer is getting a couple more bags of weights in for me

The bases of those stands look awfully small and don’t seem to fit the speakers at all. It’s like they are on stilts. Hopefully they are stable but they wouldn’t be my choice. I’m not sure what would be though, possibly the 50cm high Solid Steel jobbies. They are much more attractive too, and being tripods are incredibly stable.

The speakers look too close together to me.

Much better. You’d want the lower ones with ATC 19s.
