New ATC’s 19’s Have Arrived!

Very happy SS7 owner here; they are stable and the top plate is well suited to speakers of your size. Wholeheartedly recommend them.

The SS5s in the photo are only 52 cm high. The SS6s are 62 cm high and would therefore go well with the ATC19s to bring them up to ear level. I can highly recommend the SS6s: they are excellently crafted (handmade in Italy) and reasonably priced in comparison. Filled to a maximum of 2/3 with Atabites or sand, they improve the sound even further. With Isoacoustics Gaia III, they can be tuned even more – but that’s more of a finishing touch than a necessity.

far far better option imo, if it was me I’d go for the 500mm version with the 19’s though

These stands look exactly right to me for these speakers. I’m every now and then tempted by atc.

i was too; i got them at a knock down price brand new; always fancied a pair, they got great reviews and to be fair, the really open up a speakers sound through their ingenious top plate and ball bearing design.

their customer service [from italy] is also excellent as my top plates suffered with their supplied blu-tac. i sent them pics and they sent 2x off brand new [redesigned and new material] top plates to me F.O.C.

paul at custom designs [top lad by the way] does some bespoke stands for ATC, PMC, AE as well, but i quite like the SolidSteel aesthetic.

Thanks Woodford but dumping negatives is par for the course on forums I’ve found

Luckily I have broad shoulders…well actually I don’t but you know what I mean

My very slight doubt I have with the Custom Design 600mm stands is that when I home demoed the active 19’s (floor standers) the drivers certainly sat quite a bit lower than the identical drivers in my passive 19’s do on the current CD stands. So if ATC designed them that way why can’t I emulate it?

I had a quick chat with ATC about it and pretty much they say 500mm stands will work just as well and not ruin the sound at all

I will visit my lovely local dealer and take a look at the solidsteel stands and maybe order a new pair of the SS5’s

Should work well, I had mine on 500mm stands and they worked well.

I have them in the raw steel - make sure to check out that finish; not for everyone but in the right room they’re pretty fantastic.

Well, tripods never rock, which in this case is a good thing :+1:.

I wanted to mention that in my experience ( and others) is that about three quarters is the right amount of fill. Also you want to get the amount equal in each stand. simple way is to weigh the amount of fill so each one is the same.

And the correct stand height should put the tweeter a little bit above ear height when sitting .

Apologies HFD but honestly I’ve got a head like a sieve… were yours 19’s on 500mm stands?

To me this is just a fine tweaking exercise

Theirin lies a lot of fun and one gets really familiar with the gear.

Remember the ultimate goal of our forum is neither sharing experience, neither asking about technical details, neither ask how this box will sound. No,no, no. The goal is to spend other people money.

If that’s the case I would rather try something like StackAudio AUVAs on the FS104 XLs before switching stands.

Not sure about fun A10Y

I’m only trying to make sure I’ve bought the right stands for the 19’s and have a niggle that 500mm might suit them better, hence the SS-5’s

Where I may agree with some gentle advice , but posts like “not my cup of tea “,or criticism of the looks , add nothing of value do they really ?

I’m not interested in spending other peoples money

Everyone will decide what they have or want to spend on equipment to hear their music how they want to

Talking about money bores me to tears as it simply doesn’t make me tick…
