Good question on the weight.
It may do what it’s intended to but that price is prohibitive to most LP12 owners I’d imagine, will be interesting to see one ‘in the flesh’ but it doesn’t look great to me on the promo pics.

I believe a standard LP12 weighs 13kg or 28.6 lbs. From what I have found the Bedrock plinth weighs 3.75 kg or 8.25lbs. One of the videos I saw where an employee mentioned one of the goals was to distribute the weight of the plinth to improve the center of gravity of the entire deck. You can see from some of the photos of the Bedrok that certain areas are beefed up more than others.

Audiophile grade plywood no doubt. 
Presumably a lot of waste from one piece of composite material. I wonder what proportion of these are rejected due to imperfections as part of the machining process.

On my visual opinion the LP12-50 looks like it ate all the pies and the new Bedrok looks lean and fit.

I’m surprised at the difference in colour. The LP12-50 looks staid in comparison to the new kid on the blok. What’s gone on I wonder?
Would there be any logic in adding cheaper ancillaries (arm/cartridge/power supply) to a Bedrok, to outperform a Selekt level LP12? I don’t get the sense from that is how Linn is positioning the new product, but wondered if that was option given the apparent importance of the plinth

IMO the Bedrock is a natural upgrade to Kilmax deck, and having heard it vs Klimax it is a good up grade should you choice to do so, same with the cartridge options
if Linn is your preffered choice you now have Klimax, Klimax/Bedrok LP12 50 your £££ or as I did 3 party I went down the TA Stiletto route and I am delighted with the music is produces
as ever with LP12 I have always followed Bearing/PSU/Chassis/arm/Cartridge route

I mentioned putting the Basik components into a Bedrock plinth and comparing it to a Lp12 with upgraded components. If source first pertains to the plinth it makes sense that it would outperform other LP12’s with more expensive components.

I’d guess that the “standard” bases only weigh a few pounds so it seems Bedrok is substantially heavier so that may be a factor for wall mounted tables.

The Bedrock is clearly aimed at a specific sector of the LP12 market but thinking about the cost certainly puts into perspective the cost of other upgrades. For instance for about £5k less the bits you no longer need (£1.5k for me makes £3.5k) you could get yourself a Stilleto, Radikal 1 and Keel. That’s what I like about these threads, food for thought.
