Anyone else had this instead of album artwork since the update?
I really like this update: greater basse xtension and definition, wider and deeper soundstage, equally soft and velvety mids, and a higher point of treble than in my system generates a fantastic synergy with the ProAc K6.
Very satisfied with the update, which also, unlike others, has been installed and performed without the slightest problem.
i have, yep - this is the problem i was referring to above. I don’t seem to get any track information either.
Happened last night. Like the pre-update screen freezes it was easily cleared by resetting at the wall.
The time interval between freezes that I used to get is quite similar to that between the firmware update and this latest glitsch - around 5-7 days.
One difference is that this appears on the app too, while the artwork freezes were confined to the screen.
I have seen this with ripped CDs where there is no or incomplete meta data. Does it happen randomly or just with specific CDs?
It’s an Atom and I only stream from Qobuz and a networked SSD.
This happened when on Qobuz and just the once so far. I updated with 3.6.0 as soon as it was available last week.
Naim support have asked that anybody with HDMI issues or volume display issues please contact them by email (support@naimaudio.com).
Please put “Forum - 3.6 - and the issue, (eg HDMI or Volume)” in the subject title, that way it can be easily spotted and collated quickly.
Please also perform a reset of your unit before reporting the issue, and when you report the issue, to include the serial number of the unit, the app version, the control device platform (iOS/Android), the control device firmware version, and the current firmware version of the unit as well as a description of the issue.
An Example…
Subject Title: Forum - 3.6 - HDMI
Serial Number: 123456
App version: 5.20
Control Device: iOS version 14.4
Unit Firmware: 3.6
Issue: Volume read out not being displayed.
Many thanks from the Naim support team.
I got this exact weird display just now … but the system managed to kick out of it and got back to displaying normal album art.
On the other hand, I did experience another hard crash today. Was playing music and Atom started stuttering (I thought it was bad connectivity as I am streaming via WiFi but within 2 meters of the access point), and then the system crashed and rebooted itself. No idea what happened and I don’t think it was the connectivity problem either.
Subjectively, this seems to be happening more after firmware upgrade - I would say once a week frequency.
Hmmm… can’t say I’ve observed any reboots or other issues apart from this.
Prior to last week’s update there were one or two reboots over several months. But the screen freezes were more or less weekly.
Yes, the frozen screen definitely happened more frequently - haven’t experienced this so far with the new firmware. So it might be fixed.
New firmware installed on Nova yesterday without any issues. This now connects perfectly with HDMI to my Samsung 95T and works a treat. Fix appears to be working!
Updated firmware …everything sound to Me much better. getting deeper bass and wider stage …don’t know if I persuade myself …but I think I never had the same feeling before.
Just installed update on ND5 XS2. I had not updated for some time (probably at least two versions ago) and there was a noticeable improvement. Update took less than 10 minutes with Ethernet connection to streamer.
Give yourself three days more… I think it will sound for you much better
You said previously that the sound has less grip with the latest firmware.
But now you say that everything sounds so much better.
Something changed?

All firmware I find - in my system for me (I have to say that) - takes about 3 days to come on-tune right to what it is going to be sounding like. This version firmware is the same.
Previous post I said I was ‘warming to it’ and still tinkering with settings - that phase has passed and I’m very happy with the result with 3.6.0 Release now.
The most open and articulate rendering of my music yet with far better deep-bass handling in terms of lack of blur and smear leading to more energy into the fundamental notes and less dissipated into distortion harmonics thrown-up into higher frequencies is how I’m hearing it.
All leading to a far ‘bigger’ presentation of dynamic range and low-synth notes are way-up in the mix on some music - I like it but now what I was used to before as ‘correct’.
Timing throughout and handling of subtle inflection, intent and emotional insight is also far better - quite an emotional upgrade at times on music I know well surprising me.
I think that as this is the Source then the effects will manifest very differently depending on capability downstream into Pre-Amp-Speakers let along cables, set-up and other exotic tweaks people may be using.
This version - for ND555 - is giving a lot more of everything musical for me.
