First connect is way slower than previous versions. Apps been reinstalled to and it’s the same. It also doesn’t stay connected when app goes into background. I am Android not iOS.
After firmware update do you also have to do a factory reset to complete the update.
Thanks in advance
… and still no graphics against playlists …
The release notes say:
“ · Via the Naim App, you can now create unlimited numbers of Presets from your favourite Internet Radio Stations, or Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal playlists, albums and tracks.”
But I’ve updated and there is no way off adding albums or tracks to presets on my Nova or NDX2, what a POS.
You should be able to add any favourite to the presets. I can on my Nova (Android app in case that is relevant). It is one of the options on the 3 dot menu alongside each favourite entry.
I have been using Qobuz, in Seattle, since the end of last February and not have had any problems with drop outs that I can recall and find it to be a fabulous service and reliable platform.
JMHO - YMMV
No, usually not.
It should just update and you can continue as before.
Only in cases of problems this is a step during trouble shooting. (After power-cycling the unit and other options.)
Mike - you would definitely need the latest app version for this as well. If you haven’t picked up the update from the last 2(?) weeks…?
This is the view I have after updating the Firmware. I’ll try re-booting both systems later, I have to go out now:
Might be, you have to “favorite” an from there can choose “presets”; but not 100% sure.
Is there a video or guide to the new functionality, or is this just another Naim software update where we are all left to flounder amongst ourselves
Atom just rebooted itself for no reason. Never done that before.
Well the service dropout out for many tonight and was out for a good 15 mins and it was not just me. It’s done this way more than Tidal ever has and I have had it for nearly 2 years now, Tidal since it’s launched and had more outs from Qobuz.
And checking the Qobuz downtime URL it’s had a number of service loss over the last week.
Well, this is rapidly descending into a regrettably predictable shambles of a Naim software update. Firstly, as posted above, why is there no video or guide to the new functionality? Another Naim software update where we are all left to flounder amongst ourselves
I’ve invested over $20K in 2 current Naim streamers (Nova and NDX2) and the lack of service and support isn’t good enough.
Okay, now that I have that off my chest, let’s see what is happening:
Both streamers need rebooting several times to get the “preset” function showing.
Presets only work on Tidal (I don’t have Qobuz or Spotify). By work, I mean they show on the Nova, but disappear off the more expensive NDX2. Presets don’t work off a Naim Uniti Core, although there seems to be a greyed out functionality for it to work in the app.
Although not detailed in the release notes, there seems to be a new functionality using the home key on the remote so that you can scroll through favourites, similar to the old streamers. So, it works for all of Tidal favourites on the Nova and plays, but only shows Tidal “presets” on the NDX2 - and they can’t play, they just show! And it won’t show anything on the Naim Uniti Core server that is designed to work with a Naim streamer…
Really, how difficult would it be for Naim to provide documentation on how this thing is meant to work. Leaving us to flounder through it, second guessing what should work, and how, and for which streamer, is a joke, and pretty slack customer service.
Yes, done all the reboots, power offs, rebooting apps etc…
Naim nailed it again. But in a negative way.
I have two issues after the first few days.
The phantom mute has disappeared, but instead of not muted it’s simply not phantom anymore. So an improvement, but still, the fix should have been to not mute when switching off through HDMI ARC. Or at least unmute when selecting a different source.
The Uniti Chromecast built-in has now disappeared off the network twice. Really annoying as unlike the screen freeze this actually stops you from listening to music.
Let’s hope (don’t have much) that Naim will release a bugfix for the latter soon instead of making us wait 5 months for another feature release.
I’m also finding that the app often doesn’t show anything from the Core and I have to force crash and relaunch the app. Probably 50% of the time. Pretty crappy experience really.
P.S, and relaunch the app, and, yes, you guessed it, the presets have disappeared.
I refer the honourable ladies and gentlemen to my post #36.
That was probably wise advice. Though it does what it used to do, it’s just that none of new features actually work.
All these problems from a FW update does beg the question of whether or not the Beta testing programme is fit for purpose. I do understand that it is impossible to replicate all set-ups and all scenarios in a Beta test, and that one would expect a few minor (random) issues to occur at final release. But there seems to be way more than that and some reoccurring themes that you might have expected the Beta testing programme to pick up, assuming the programme was robust enough.
I am in no way suggesting the Beta testers did not do a thorough job, I know some of them on here and they are a conscientious group with an eye for detail. I am simply questioning if the Beta testing group is broad enough and of sufficient size.
And yes, detailed release notes and a detailed explanation of how to operate new features (and any restriction to the availability of those features) would be helpful.
It is not as if this is the first time so many concerns have come to light at a FW release.
