I’m using Roon to the machine just randomly reboots during playback for no reason. Connection to the App is so broken.
If the new firmware is really so full of bugs it would be great if Naim would roll it back to 3.4 before we all get really disapointed. At least people should be able to choose the firmware which works best for their unit.
Absolutely right!
For goodness sake, if logging out and in Tidal/Qobuz, or shutting your streamer down and turning back on, or factory reset, or other such twiddles can fix these issues, then bl**dy well tell us!!! The silence is deafening.
I don’t happen to have any issues (I am aware of) but I wouldn’t use pre sets. But for those with issues, there must be some things that can be tried to fix at home. Just say so via the website and forum.
This always seems a sensible course of action if you get odd issues after an update from what I can see and read here, especially logging out then back in again on any streaming or external services.
Here’s a video from Naim explaining some of the new features in the latest 3.5 Firmware and App updates.
This video is a great step forward in clearly explaining how to use new features. I hope future feature updates are accompanied by similar videos.
Just need to get those with issues up and running with v3.5.
Plenty happening today in the background Nigel, directly trying to help anybody having difficulties. For everyone else, hopefully the info and the video posted here will help, otherwise please make contact with Naim support via the usual channels.
I’ve not found an earth-changing difference, but do perceive a lift in spaciousness, clarity and textural detail (which is one of my obsessions) as well as instrumental decay, maybe in PRAT, too…
It’s all been positive for me so far on both the SQ and stability fronts.
Curious. I’ve not had absoloutely any stability problems with my ND555 and Roon (on Nucleus).
I am sure there is plenty happening, possibly creating a queue at Customer Service. Surely there are some simple things those with issues could try for themselves, reducing the pressure on customer service. Not all are familiar with the tricks of the trade, but these could be so easily communicated and might fix a good proportion of issues, avoiding the personal attention of Customer Services.
A shortcut to a fix if you like.
My ND555 update went fine and there have been no problems using with Melco.
Operation with Melco is in fact a lot improved in stability and rendering Album Artwork correct now.
I’ve been on Beta test team - but mainly to ensure what I use worked well and SQ was the same or better - Beta version SQ can vary better and worse a bit or a lot and you take that with the job of testing.
There were versions which greatly improved SQ and versions that did not - I think this final Release one is better, in that I want to immerse myself in music over extended periods of time - my usual subliminal test on myself.
A bit tighter, cleaner, faster and clearer is how I hear it - but without losing harmonic structure in decay of notes. For me piano and feathering cymbals sound right and these are usually what goes-off easy when something goes wrong.
All the other functionality stuff… I use my system in a very basic way and that works fine.
DB.
I would second that finding on my NDX2, just trying to decide if I like it or not though. It is odd how one can spend ages and lots of money tweaking a system with cables and the like only to have it all change with a new firmware release
That is why I stopped such tweaking once I got a system of cables that I liked. The differences can be less than the variations in Firmware SQ in my system.
I generally need a few days to tell if I long-term like something - and re-boot of ND555 always knocks-back the SQ for a day for me to a bit leaner, then after a day or so it recovers the ‘warmth’ (low-level detailing).

Yes I find it a tad in your face but maybe I’ll acclimatise, I had been thinking prior to the update how nice everything was sounding so this is a bit annoying
I had a very helpful email from Naim support asking if I had updated to the current version . Um yes, that’s the problem, very helpful thanks.
So skimming through the thread, it’s seems log out and back into Tidal is an option?
Always hesitant to resort to a factory reset as I don’t want to brick the streamers.
No answer about not being able to preset favorites from the Core - yes or no folks since Naim can’t answer?
And the mystery home key on the remote…
Hey Richard.
Proberly Nice with the video, BUT why isn’t it possible to see it in fx. Denmark. Seem to be blocked in YouTube.
Best Regards Torben
I have to say all went smoothly on my ND555 with no issues encountered this far. I always perform a restart of both the device and the app post any upgrade…many years working in IT and thousands of firmware updates have taught me that.
The only thing I miss is that we no longer get the groovy multi-coloured “squiggles” during the startup of the ND555 at least. Oh well…think I’ll survive!
Cheers,
One day on all stable, one drop out, but turned out to be a network moment, SQ I like but concede like back at 2.3? worrying how complicated this streaming lark is.
Which, off course, is not stated in the instructions
