Ok, reading my post again I could probably have been more diplomatic - but certainly no intention to mock anyone. Seems I stuck my hand in a nest here
No worries, the mocking I referred to was from elsewhere. That’s a forum I abandoned long ago, in part, for its elitist/know-it-all attitudes from many members.
I thought you were just criticizing, but if you aren’t an avid, long-time record collector like I am I can see where you might think the tool is excessive. It costs about $50, the price of a boutique 45 RPM reissue. I think that Naim included it for a $20k turntable package was most appropriate in any case.
$50? Gosh. £3.00 for a 7.3mm drill bit. A wooden dowel of suitable diameter, drilled with the same bit, stick the drill bit in the hole and Voila! Perhaps I should go into production…
Go for it. I have no regrets buying mine.
Each to their own I suppose. People pay ungodly amounts for ethernet cables. I use $20 Blue Jeans cables that meet spec and work great.
So you are indirectly saying you have a new solstice with accessories at home? You said you were on holiday, but really home listening to your new kit!!!
Just kidding😂
Scott
And there is music! It boogies! Too early for any detailed analysis. And my system in our new home is far from settled in. I chose a fabulous record and I’m thrilled so there’s that.
Great job Bart! It all looks fantastic with the Black Fraim. Great choice for a “first” song
Well done Bart !!! I was cheering for you !!!
And who told you to get that fine record.
Whaddya think?
How bout some Metallic or White Zombie
Enjoy Bart!
Or some Tool.
In fact, my first record spinned once I’ve got my SSE setup will likely be the greatest album ever produced this side of the Local Galactic Group. (I accept the remote possibility that somewhere, more than 5 million light years away, that something has created more compelling music)
I have no idea what this album is.
Tool - Lateralus
That’s playing it too safe lol
Think modern King Crimson or Floyd.
I wouldn’t call myself a record collector (avid buyer perhaps …), but vinyl is my primary source, consisting of some 1000 records, being played in the home office and in our living room. Never felt the need for a spindle hole drill tool, though. I have, however, bought far more expensive accessories over the years, so excessive is a term I’d never dare use
Having a demo next week, looking forward to listening to this first Naim turntable.
